Sure its a great hotel and people are very nice, rooms are great and sure its a beautiful hotel but...... Its big, Big building and many rooms so the Spa is allways occupied and restaurants booked. We had our breakfast list outside our door but it wasn't delivered. After waiting en called and it to another hour to reach our room. Coffee and eggs Benedict was cold. The we came to our room in the evening the trolley with the remains of our breakfast was still parked in front of our door. The moment you drive up the hotel looks impressive and it is indeed impressive in terms of quality, rooms, reception services and pool. The room are simply splendid decorated, very spacious with coffee machine...super well done. The area is great for hiking and not that far from Cologne. We only stayed for one night. The breakfast had a great variety of choices including healthy options and the team was very attentive and welcoming. However there is one big downside; the dinner in Salvador Dali is nerve breaking process. We only ordered the main course and it took them 2 hours to prepare; how on earth is that possible. Having asked the waiter himself was completely unaware what was happening. We made our order at 20.10 pm and we good finally our food at 21.50 pm....totally "off" for such kind of hotel. Meanwhile the music the bar was 'live' but bad adding additional nervousness and stress to the waiting process. Yes they credited the drinks but that was not our intention. Again totally not aligned with the grandeur & quality of the hotel.…

Schloss Bensberg is definitely one of the most beautiful hotels in Germany with large rooms, high ceilings, huge driveway and lawns. Old grandezza but very well maintained. Several food options up to Michelin star level. Excellent service, in particular I want to recommend Stefan Ries. The only missing item in this hotel is a cigar bar.

I have been coming for many years. In the last 2 years (Covid) the service (Staff) was not trained enough for the class of the hotel. As I return the quality of Staff-training has dramatically increased. It was necessary! The Hotel director is very much present and the breakfast crew is coming up to speed, thanks to very dedicated individuals that care and train. nice to see how it develops. Also the front Desk is alert and up to speed.

what a great place to be, this castle - loved the super spacious bed rooms. Service like you would like to it to be - every wish was possible. Only minus point - restaurants were all fully booked or closed. You probably have to book way ahead, when you want a table - impossible when you have decided to stay spontaneous on the same day.

With fiends (two couples) we enjoyed the gourmet arrangement. The Trattoria Eneteco and Vendôme restaurant were of course different but both very good. It even surprised us that Vendôme has now only two stars of the guide Michelin. They should receive as quick as possible their third star back. The food, the spring menu, the wine suggestions of the sommelier and the service was outstanding. The quality of the hotel including breakfast and the spa was of the highest quality. And the end in total for the gourmet arrangement: very good price-quality.

We stayed only a night but enjoyed it very much. Driving up to the property is impressive and worth the stay by itself. We had a large suite which we liked. The spa was good with an outstanding massage - truly professional - and we set high standards in that department. We ate at the Italian restaurant which was also very good. Great for a short stay or long weekend. Also very good value.

My husband and I had two days to spend in Köln and choose this hotel simply because of its awesomeness and history. We arrived later in the evening and were immediately checked in including all hotel aspects including Covid restrictions. We booked a suite and it was nice, everything you could ever want. It’s massive size, huge windows and high ceilings created a true castle feeling of being very secure. The sound of the fountain through the open window relaxed every bone in our bodies. Food experiences at the hotel were top class. Late dinner in lobby bar was exceptional. The breakfast was well organized and very delicious. The hotels Italian restaurant was a highlight. So delicious and really worth booking a table even if you are not a hotel guest. There is no doubt about it, the next time we find ourselves in this area of Germany, we will stay here. There cannot possibly be a more comfortable place.…

Won't be back any time soon! Nice location (chateau), Spa & Wellness area is small but ok, but: The service during dinner at the "castle kitchen" (Restaurant Jan Wellem) was horrific. We were leaving the Spa quite early (even though we would have liked to stay for a little while) because the reception had booked our "4-course-menu" for 6.30 p.m. The first two courses (salad and soup which were quite good) had been changed to "buffet" (presumably to reduce staff costs) but which is still fine. For a quite long time nobody was taking away the dishes (~20 min) which we had put aside to eat the soup. After taking away the dishes we were asked whether we would like to continue with the main course right away which we affirmed. The next 40 minutes we were asked again and again (3 times in total) whether we are ready for the main course - but no food arrived. When our fish arrived at the table it was kind of cold. After taking away the dishes from the main course we were asked again whether we would like to start right away with the desert which we - again - affirmed. Again the staff asked us two times more whether we would like to have the desert. After 60 minutes the desert arrived (still, the ordered coffee to accompany the desert never showed up, neither on the table nor gladly at the bill). One could see that also other guests were looking confused about the service, because they were receiving the wrong menu. There wasn't much staff (maybe three waiters/waitresses for 30 guests) and only one of them which was bringing the food from the kitchen was acting professionell. When we checked out at the next morning at the reception, our decent hint "whether the kitchen was a little bit busy last night" was commented slightly snobbish and proud that all three restaurants were fully booked... I have to admit that I never experienced such bad service in a restaurant, not even in "normal" restaurants. All in all for us the trip was quite disappointing.…
