We wanted to go skiing for a few days in the off-season, but unfortunately the weather didn't play along. We ended up spending even more time in the hotel and were really impressed by the incredible friendliness and politeness of the entire team, from the charming boss to the service staff. The food was excellent, the room service was top-notch and we felt very comfortable in the spacious wellness area. The hotel is very close to the ski slopes and there is a free bus shuttle to the center.

A very pleasant, friendly hotel with exceptional staff. Just a few minutes from the ski lifts. Little things count. A cushion and a duvet with natural filling, not plastic. A simple, perfectly cooked meal, without pseudo-international cuisine, very good cheese and sausage selection for breakfast. Luxury in a family atmosphere, cozy and pleasant.

A fabulous family run hotel where the owner and manger are always available and always friendly. The staff are delightful and go out of their way to be helpful. This is how a hotel should be run. We have had the opportunity to stay at many ski hotels over the years, some in a much higher price bracket, but we always say the Plattenhof is the best and we are always so sad to leave.

Haven been to the arlberg region for more than 30 years this has been the worst hotel experience by far.
The hotel is owned and operationally run by arrogant and incompetent people.
There are one or two exceptions in the waiting staff who are good but in general staff was sullen, unhelpful and rude.
The chef is clearly doing his best on a very tight budget as the ingredients are very clearly the cheapest possible sourced (were unlike Lech which has really high quality food).
In addition the deco hasn’t been really updated since the late 1970s and is in stark contrast to the other hotels in Lech.
If you wanna experience Lech, which is a beautiful and hospital place, avoid this hotel at any cost.

For us, four adults and two children around ten years old, everything was perfect:
the ambience, the rooms (nice and with comfortable beds), the service and the good and plentiful 3/4 board. The patisseur is excellent.
Not to be forgotten is the swimming pool and the great sauna area. The ski bus to the lifts leaves directly from the hotel every twenty minutes.
For us, a perfect holiday.

Wonderful hotel with a great team to take care of your every need. The hotel has a wonderful spa with pool, sauna, and some unique Turkish style rooms. There’s a peaceful vibe for relaxing afternoons after skiing. I had half board and loved the good. A great experience and I will stay there again.

Lech is one of the best ski resorts of the Austrian Alps. Its a shame that my hotel stay did not match. Rudest owners, terrified employees that are getting nervous as soon as the owners are around. As a result – a smile is a rare sight, and what you get is a nervous, uptight service. When I didn’t find the way to the parking place, the owner response was “I am the owner of the place. Ask one of the staff about directions to the parking”. Are you kidding me? Is this a luxury hotel owner attitude? Everything is cramped and the dining room manager “office” is in the middle of the lobby area, with all papers and phone around it. Employees mostly speak other languages than German or English could not provide any information about hotel surrounding, ski area, conditions, forecast or night life recommendations. I asked about trains to Zurich airport and received an answer of =check it on the internet yourself. Old small block TV in the room (flat screen anyone?), I am a vegetarian and there were hardly any veggies during breakfast, I wish I’d have gone to a different hotel.
Am very surprised about some of the positive reviews, maybe their expectations were significantly lower, but by all means, the only luxury aspect of this hotel is the price, nothing else.

We had the pleasure to enjoy four star premium hotels in all major Austrian ski resorts over the past 9 years (Lech x2, St. Anton, Solden, Ischgl, Mayerhoffen, Bad Hofgastein and etc).
Overall you know what you pay for and what to expect. The Plattenhof Hotel in Lech is one huge disappointment which barely makes the standard of a simple 3.5 star hotel. Overall experience is that the owners rather than providing a pleasant guest experience, are all about squeezing more Euro from each guest and reduce running costs to the bare minimum. I list here just the facts, not any personal impressions:

Late check-in: €12 charge
Internet: €20. Internet didn't work for 2 of the 4 days.
Parking: €12 per day.
Pool table: Extra charge.
Jacuzzi in the SPA/Health area: €4. Oh, and it runs on cold water, not hot water. Not even look-warm but just cold water!
Soap/shampoo – entire stay no replenishment in the room
1 small towel per person
In ski room – no overnight shoes heating unit. They are unhappy if you take ski shoes into your room for night heating, but don't provide heating for the shoes in the ski room.
Breakfast – no fresh juice, or butter (standard in ALL 4 star premium hotels)
Afternoon snack, which is a standard in ALL 4 star premium hotels, is don't by 16:30. This is a ski resort, all lifts are open at least till 16:40 – and when asked the owner's wife about this, her reply was - "we are not obligate to provide you with afternoon snack, so you can finish your skiing day earlier if this is important for you). Even soup is not offered and the little things in offer are done by 16:15 anyhow. But, you won't miss much.
SPA area – including pool, saunas, and gym – all closes at 19:30.
Dinner – must be in before 20:30.
Gym has 4 old pieces of equipment.
Health area – once you find your way through the maze of doors and corridors, you are underground in a stuffed place with no windows or any decent view to the outside world.
Pool, gym, saunas area – all separated from each other through several corridors.
Pool: amazing use of wide-angle lens, when comparing real size to the impression on their website.

All these, combined with a tinny sub-standard room, heavy smokers lobby + bar area, its just a bad experience when you pay more than €500 a night per room.

A 4 day family vacation has turned into a nightmare! I reserved a room with a king size bed and a sofa bed (for 2 adults), and emailed the hotel a month before our stay saying we had two small children that will sleep in the sofa bed but was unable to add them to the original reservation. I received an email back saying that's not a problem, we will make sure the bed is prepared for the kids. Then they said I had to prepay the full amount (what I was quoted), and so I did, although I didn't like the fact of a full prepayment.
When we showed up (or before), nothing was mentioned about an extra charge. The day we left, we paid 40€ at checkout for what we consumed. I signed the original prepayment and the bill at checkout.
1 day AFTER we left, I received an email saying "we want to inform you that we charge your account for 1.300€ for the extra bed "!!! Without my knowledge, consent or signature, they charged my account and then notified me...AFTER CHECKOUT!!!! We did not have an extra bed, we got the king size bed and sofa bed we reserved. They charged an extra 300€ per day without ever disclosing anything about extra charges, and I have all the documentation to show.
We ended paying over 800€ for 1 night, which is almost 100€ over the highest price they have on the list!

I filed a Claim with Hotels.com, and during the investigation they said the manager told them that she had told me over the phone about this charge...complete lie! I never spoke on the phone with her!!! And if she did, why was this not charged when we prepaid or checked out?

Anyway, clear to say, I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE and I'm doing as much as I can to alert future visitors about the unprofessionalism you will deal with at this hotel.
I have the original email when they Charged the full amount 1 month before the stay and after telling the hotel that 2 kids will stay as well, I have the bill we signed at checkout for 40€, and I have the email from the hotel 24 hours after I left NOTIFYING me that they changed my account without my consent or signature.

I'm disputing this with the bank, and will not stop there!

Response from Plattenhof, Manager at Hotel Plattenhof
Responded Jan 19, 2017
Dear Mr. P. Thank you very much for your coment. But you should stick with the facts: * you have booked via Expedia a small double room in the annex building for 2 adults. * You checked in with 2 adults and 2 children * Upon check in you have been upgraded for free into a double room suitable for 2 adults and 2 children. The 2 extra beds have been made up for the kids. * We have charged only for the children according to our price list.
