What a lovely place to stay whilst "doing" the Great Ocean Road. It might be 3 stars on paper but our experience was far in excess of that. Many many thanks for what turned out to be our favourite stop on our drive from Melbourne to Adelaide.
The place was very quite and nice. It has provided everything for your trip for the Great Ocean Road. However, one of the bed sheet was not clean (found some blood stains on the bed sheet) but the hotel was situated near the Port Campbell town, very easy to grab some food or beer after a long day trip.
I can't say there is much at all in these little towns, so I thought it was just fine for one night as we made our way along the Great Ocean Road. Staff was so friendly and accommodating. Clean and very basic. Would have been great if our two rooms (ours and the one for our teenage boys) could have been a little closer, that would have made for better organization. But it was holiday time and everything was fully booked. I'm guessing we got the last two rooms!!!
We arrived before 6pm to find nobody at reception with a note stuck to the door to say they’d had to leave and the keys were in the room. Not the best of starts even if they did leave a contact number as it would have cost us about $15 to call it being international travellers. Then we couldn’t lock the door when we were trying to leave for dinner. The room itself was quite dark with low lighting inside. The room was dirty with loads of squashed insects all over the walls. We hadn’t found this in our previous motel. The bathroom was small with a container labelled as hand/hair and body wash positioned above the hairdryer so when you used the dispenser it was so runny that it covered the hairdryer in soap. When using the shower there was only a curtain to pull around and when switching on the extraction fan it created a draft in to the room that was cold and meant the curtain moved towards you whilst you were showering. This left a very small space to shower in if you didn’t want to keep getting the curtain stuck to you. However it was a place to sleep and reasonably close to town. I’d probably find somewhere else to stay if returning as there were some places closer to town that looked nicer.…
I stayed here with a friend for one night as we drove the Great Ocean Road. We only booked in the morning and that was super easy to do; as was checking in, we were greeted by friendly chat and sorted quickly. The rooms were basic in furnishing and decor, but had everything you’d hope for in a motel... tea and coffee, sink, fridge, tv, etc. It was comfortable enough as well. The night was a reasonable cost, and we were provided with good, simple accommodation which absolutely did the job, and I’d likely stay here again if passing through Port Campbell another time.
