The property is beautiful, overlooking the ocean and beach from a cliff setting. The lodging is superb. The staff are all friendly, know your name, and provide fabulous service. We booked a private day with Exceptional KI to focus on wildlife photography. Tim was our guide

Southern Ocean lodge is a special place. It reminds me of a less touristic version of Post Ranch Inn but on the Southern Ocean facing Antarctica! The rooms are awesome with incredible views to the ocean and beaches. Loved the wildness of it. The cliff walk was a highlight - did

My wife and I stayed at Southern Ocean Lodge for 2 nights as part of our 3 week visit to Australia. The views from Lodge are beyond description and photos do not do it justice. The food was exceptional for such a remote location and we found the staff very nice. The offer

We visited SOL as part of a 3 week visit to Australia. Our 3 days at his amazing resort were the highlight of the trip for my husband and I. It is not an inexpensive property, however, I felt there was definitely value for the investment. I had no complaints during our stay

The hallway to the rooms has a slight incline. I have lower back issues and I didn't have any issues but it would be best to book a room close to the dining area. Also, you will need to pick activities that are within you ability levels.

Sorry, have only just seen your question so you may be on your way. We did the nocturnal tour but not the quad safari or the platypus hike (althoughI would do that hike if we went again). We found we were quite busy enough with the standard activities and a couple of walks we did. We particularly enjoyed the walk from I think it was Kelly’s Caves. We were dropped off there and walk back. Really beautiful and well worth doing if you like walking. It is a beautiful place and I am sure you will enjoy it. The trip (standard) to Remarkable Rocks etc was great so I would really recommend that. Otherwise, just enjoy and keep your eyes peeled. We saw a number of echidnas (a super spiny hedgehog type creature but a monotreme, am egg laying mammal) off the side of the boardwalk. Also a number of goannas and a koala right outside our room (you will see lots anyway). Have fun!

What can we expect the weather to be like in late March?
I am thinking it will be ideal. Like September in the US, but you might want to ask them directly.

Didn’t see snakes or lizards whilst there, she’ll be fine. Wonderful place, enjoy.

Do you need hiking shoes for the walks they offer?
Be realistic in your assessment. Gentle strol..sneakers... a hard climb in the scrub...sturdier boots or shoes.

"Only 21 rooms....all great I am sure."
"All rooms looked great."
"Room 2 is a hike but the privacy and closeness to the ocean make it special. Not a good fit for mobility challenged or unfit."
"Any room will amaze anyone."
"If you have any mobility issues, ask for a room close to the main area, as it is quite a ways to the distant rooms."
