Costa Rica is a family run business, they are working hard to rebuild the reputation of the motel. This is not a corporate or large chain but a good old fashion Aussie motel with a family putting their energy into making it a success. Sure, prior to these guys there may have been issues and sure it's a little tired...

The Costa Rica has undergone renovations & the rooms have been painted, new ceiling fans installed, new fridges in rooms & the bedding is crisp & white. If you have stayed here before, you wont think you are in the same Motel!!!

We wanted a house at Hat Head and all we could get was a room at the Costa Rica. What a find: easy to locate, friendly staff. The room is large for hotel standards and comfortable. Yes the bathroom fittings were red but we had fresh milk, regular coffee and tea, a jug, microwave, a kitchen sink and enough materials...

This is the second time my husband have chosen the Costa Rica to stay for 4 days. Barbara was very accommodating and understanding when our daughter decided to stay with us for 2 days. A fold out bed was set up in the room with lovely clean linen. The room was cleaned each day, bed made, even washing up done...

Having to travel 5 hours for a funeral, it was lovely to have such a calming place to stay. We needed a wheel-chair friendly room. The owner was fantastic, went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Not many motels offer disabled access. Really happy with the tariff. Clean and tidy....will definitely stay there again

The motel has new managers who are totally revamping the property. The previous people did let things get a bit rundown but things are already underway to make the rooms modern and comfortable again. I've been told it will be ready for my family Christmas holiday

Despite a very pleasant and helpful owner this motel (nothing like a resort) is average and relatively expensive. Spacious and comfortable but badly in need of a makeover. At $123 a night I paid more than I do for a 4 1/2 star hotel including parking in central Brisbane. The restaurant was closed and we had to drive into town...

Pros: Service, cleanliness, comfort and availability. The staff were very helpful with good local advice and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. Was looking forward to eating at the restaurant as we have been there before and the meal was delicious, but were told it was closed. But we still had a lovely meal at the local country club...
