It is an old hotel, very close to train station. The stairs to the front door is kinda narrow, so be careful. Once inside, it is charming and the staff is good. The receptionist let me checked into the room earlier than the stated check in time. The single room was already cleaned up and quite spacious. It has a... More

Our exercise group has just enjoyed a night at the Metropole including a 'Christmas in August' dinner. It was a repeat event from last year which is a good sign! The location was ideal because we did bushwalking during the day and was in an easy walk of several pubs after dinner. This is not a modern, clinical or fancy... More

Thanks for your feedback, you all seemed to be having a great time at the Yulefest dinner. Some of our rooms are small but we always encourage our guests to make themselves at home in our various sitting rooms. We hope you visit us again. More

We stayed for two nights at the Metropole. We travelled to Katoomba by train - the Metropole is directly across the road from the station. We visited in winter and the weather was very cold, however we found this place to be very cozy and warm. Another bonus was that the Metropole is right in the town centre, and just... More

A quaint old fashioned hotel but you can hear everything - if you like sleeping in then this is not for you. Parking is difficult and amenities are basic. Everything was clean and staff friendly. The fridge had to be turned off to eliminate the humming noise. On a positive close to some good eateries at the top end of... More

Spent a few days at the Metropolitan. The accommodation was basic but could have been a bit cleaner. I found a dead wood lice among my towels which didn't give me a good first impression of the room. The WiFi was very slow. The amenities and ambience of the building was pleasant and satisfactory though. The staff were pleasant and... More

The Metropole is a charming guest house built and maintained in the style of the 1930s when it was built. The rooms are warm, and the beds comfortable. The room I stayed in had an en-suite bathroom, which I think all the rooms have. On each floor are lounges where you can meet other guests if you want to. There... More

Had a fantastic time, stayed with another couple on package deal. Our friends room was smaller than ours, but it was quite adequate. The sitting/loungerooms were very cosy with gas log fires at night and beautiful sun during the day. Great way to get to talk to other guests. Very close to Katoomba's main street which has a great variety... More

The Metropole has history and character but sadly let down by lack of maintenance and very minimal service. The naturally warm and cordial service really caught my attention here; but there was much more on offer: impeccably maintained antiques, historic artefacts, a games room, and a perfect view of dawn on the mountain over the Kingsford-Smith Park, just a few steps from the Katoomba main drag.
