We called in for a drink on a Saturday afternoon. A nice fire was roaring, the beer was cold and the man behind the bar was friendly and welcoming. The place is old, but has everything you need for an afternoon drink.

A random, drunken last minute stay with friends. The staff were great and very accomadating, it was so convenient. Downsides: No Tea & coffee, TV, or toiletries. The room did come with a old band aid on the floor and an awful smell. The shocking smell coming up through the drains so we couldn't bathe. Hopefully a renovation happens soon

Unless you can sleep through the noise of the trucks roaring up and down the main road all night do not book this hotel. Noise is horrendous. Rooms are outdated and old and they don't have the basics such as hair dryers tvs or wardrobes or even shampoo. The heater in the room had little effect. Gotta feel sorry for... More

Called into the Gearin at Katoomba. Probably the roughest looking pub ever, however, go into the dining room (very rough looking) and be amazed at the quality of the $10 specials. Why go to a rough looking hotel? We had a farm at Portland (other side of Lithgow) and always stopped at the Gearin for a quick meal. It's been... More

Paid $110 for an ensuite, no heater, no TV, no Tea/Coffee, one pillow each, the twizzler rod on both sets of venetians was made out of 3 broken pool cues taped together with an extra bit of folded up cardboard to make them just that little bit longer - what were they thinking? We will never stay here again, it... More

The Gearin is a very old hotel and sadly in need of refurbishment. However, we needed a room for the night during the recent Blue Mountains Music Festival and nothing else available. The bartender was working on his own, but was very pleasant and helpful, showing us to our room, which was clean but very basic. Mattress ok, pillows not... More

Food was amazing. Loved the chilli cheese bread. Had salt n pepper squid so tasty. Partner had snitzchel loved it and friend had a steak cooked perfectly. Would go back for sure. Great friendly service and the wait wasn't too long. Large portions, even for a light lunch menu option.

Stopped in for a beer after shopping the streets of Katoomba wth my wife. The bartender was very pleasant and along with the local clientele provided a lot of information about the area. Some very interesting conversations and everyone was anxious to help a visiting tourist. The hotel also had $10 dinner specials Mon-Thu. On Monday we had an excellent... More

I stayed hear one night, to watch a live music gig. The Pub/ Bar is quite pleasant and the live music act was excellent. It was very cold and the blankets, sheets on the bed were not adequate for Cold blue mountains weather. The rooms were very basic, but expected for the price. parking was very easy. There is shared... More

Stayed one night, room smelt damp and musty. Extremely basic, shared facilities only except for a wash basin in the room. Music from live band did not stop to early hours of the morning, though I have to say the music was very good. I would not recommend staying there unless absolute last resort.
