#1 of 6 hotels in Queenstown
Travelers' Choice
Queenstown is the ideal mid-point to stop and rest overnight or for multiple nights to explore Tasmania's West Coast Wilderness region. The Comfort Inn Gold Rush provides arguably the cleanest, well appointed, spacious guest rooms. The rooms have Kitchenette (with toaster, kettle, tea/coffee, utensils), On-suite Bathroom (with amenities) all to ensure your stay is a comfortable one. Breakfasts can be provided with dinner options close by. Parking is secure, off-road in front of the rooms, Free high-speed WiFi. Most rooms have views to the Mount Owen and spectacular scenic, colour contrasts on the barely clad surrounding mountains at sunset. The Gold Rush is well positioned when exploring the region. What to do when on the West Coast? • An abundance of Waterfalls generally flow all year round including Nelson Falls, Montezuma Falls, Horsetail Falls • Walking Trails through the surrounding mountains • Mountain Biking trails with new trails under construction • The West Coast Wilderness Railway - operates daily tourist rail services most of the year from Queenstown • King River Rafting - operating from Queenstown this is white water rafting at its best • RoamWild with tours into the surrounding forests, Lost Mines, operating hydro power stations and the once thriving abandoned village, • The Paragon, a beautifully restored movie theatre offering dinner and movies most evenings, • Boat Cruises operating daily from Strahan on Macquarie Harbour and into the iconic Gordon River, • Great museums in Zeehan and Queenstown

The Gold Rush is a good quality motel. The beds are firm, the shower hot, the option of decaf coffee or tea, a comfortable room and adequate heating on a cold day. What made the motel special was the owner, Bernie. On arrival Bernie took the time to find out what I was interested in and pointed me in the right direction to explore Queenstown's art scene, see the spectacular scenery all around Queenstown and eat some surprisingly good Asian food. I had two other conversations with Bernie and on both occasions he was friendly and helpful. Likewise the young woman who serviced the rooms was friendly and cheerful. My trip to Queenstown far exceeded my expectations in part thanks to Bernie and in part because it is spectacular scenery.

Hotel's Favorite
I am old enough to remember when motels were new to Australia and were something of a novelty. This motel would have been built many years ago but you wouldn’t know it— immaculately clean with a really comfortable bed and a functional kitchenette.obviously renovated and repainted not so long ago. We spent two nights here and could not fault it with owner Bernie going out of his way to help us. I think we paid $135 a night or thereabouts which was amazing value and our cooked breakfast of bacon eggs with toast and various spreads which cost us a further $19was great. Don’t expect a 5 star resort if that’s what you are after but believe me the place is worth the 5 stars I am giving it in this review— Excellent value for the money involved

Nicely located on the edge of Queenstown. Very friendly and helpful owner. Spacious and clean room with kitchenette. Very clean, ensuite with nice hot shower/bath. Nice and firm bed. Pity we had some noise of our neigbours TV. Parking in front of your room. Would stay here again!

Thank you for the feedback and pleased that your expectations were met. While we are in a quiet location it is unfortunate when are people do not self manage their noise levels in consideration of others

Booked this on line only a day before we arrive, easy check in, room had 2 beds, small kitchen and bathroom. Suited our needed and was clean and comfortable, would have been really good to have a couch rather than the 2nd bed. On site laundry was very handy. In room breakfast menu was not available ( not told that on check in), but restaurant was operating for breakfast, it was a bit expensive but did the job

We had a very comfortable one night stay at this very nice hotel located just outside the town of Queenstown Tasmania. Our room was spacious, very clean, and had a nice kitchenette. Beds were very comfortable and we had a quiet night's sleep. The owner was very accommodating, making suggestions on things to see and do in the area, restaurants, and brought us continental breakfast in the morning. We couldn't have asked for more.
