The Reef House is the most wonderful place to stay in Palm Cove. The scene was set for our stay upon receipt of a phone call from Cedric, the concierge, on the day prior to our arrival to check that all was in order and offer whatever assistance we might need. The warmth of this early welcome continued throughout our stay. Staff are friendly, happy and show, what appears to be, a genuine interest in each guest. Nothing is too much trouble for them which is quite extraordinary, given our recent experiences elsewhere. We loved everything about the RH (wine tasting, cocktail making class, afternoon sorbets, spa, food in the restaurant etc etc)and didn’t want to leave - surely the sign of a good holiday!

The Reef House and beautiful Palm Cove is our 'Happy Place' ticking all the boxes for a fantastic holiday. We have stayed at the RH before and will continue to do so. Perfectly located around midway on Williams Esplanade across the road from the stunning beach, the RH is a colonial boutique style full service hotel. Guests are treated to a variety of activities such as cocktail and wine classes, fitness classes, daily sorbet around the pools- etc enabling social interaction in a fun way. The rooms are not all the same configuration but all are lovely - roomy and well appointed with all the facilities/amenities you could want. The award winning restaurant is another tick. Nothing is too much trouble for the wonderful staff, charged by the unforgettable, helpful, cheerful concierge extraordinaire- Cedric. The spa facilities are also excellent, with friendly helpful experienced staff offering health and pampering packages. Another aspect about the RH and Palm Cove is that we feel safe. I highly recommend the Reef House and can't wait to go back!…

We enjoyed a wonderful long weekend stay in May. Weather was on our side and we enjoyed warm and sunny times. The standout for the Reef House was the service and hospitality. What might be lacking in the ageing of the place was well and truly made up for by the warm , attentive service. This was demonstrated from reception, to pool bar, restaurant and day spa. Consistently high levels of service so often missing in Australian locations. The team really looked to be enjoying their jobs! The food was great both at breakfast and dinner and the location was superb. The rooms and facilities were showing their age and no doubt being in a cyclone prone area doesn’t help. However all the soft furnishings and special touches like chocolates and some bubbles were very much appreciated. We can’t wait to come back some day! I loved everything about the reef house except my room. I had a spa suite in the old section of the hotel, we over looked a tin roof that was full of dead branches up to two metres long the windows bar two were impossible to open, we had two venetian blinds one went up half way the other one wouldn’t stay up at all.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 5 day stay at The Reef House. The experience started the day before we departed with a personal phone call from Cedric (Concierge) to check on us and enquire if we needed anything. We had heard that some hotels were experiencing staffing problems with the covid dilemma, however, our experience was the opposite. All staff were obliging, courteous and absolutely professional but in a genuinely caring manner. Not one staff member from the manager to the wait staff to the cleaner and gardeners failed to greet and acknowledge us each and every day. Our room was clean and spacious with a large patio and kitchenette. It was peaceful and enjoyable to sit at. The cocktail making and wine appreciation classes were fabulous. The Reef House restaurant is simply AMAZING!!! Breakfasts in the mornings were a treat to behold in such a relaxed location under the 200 year old paperbark trees whilst watching the sun rise over us. Night time dining was indeed an extra special treat. The food was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Wine list whilst not huge was impressive and ticked our boxes.
