This is a hidden gem in paradise. The place is settled in a pristine beach far away from noisy drunk school spring breakers, perfect to relax and reset in touch with lush nature, beauty and harmony. All in good balance. The hotel is clean, very well maintained, the villas or rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated and and furnished to accommodate a family for a short or long period of time. I appreciate a hotel with good quality mattress and pillows and crispy ironed percal cotton sheets, fluffy towels, Kitchen is fully equipped, in case you decide to prepare yourself a morning expresso or whatever.
If you're traveling with kids this is a very good place to stay because they have activities and a pool reserved for families and if you are traveling as couple you'll have another pool to relax with no kids splashing or playing, not that it matters to me because we are beach people, but I noticed that for some people it makes a difference.
The staff is local people, very sweet and kind, attentive, but if you don't speak Spanish just have a little extra patience and request the help of the ones that do. We had a few mishaps at the restaurants The management Mr Stephano was on top to make proper adjustments. I look forward to going back, taking my family and friends for a longer stay, enjoying walks by the ocean and scheduling myself afternoon treatments at their SPA - one of the BEST I have been, clean, experienced and professional therapists and perfect setting for facials or body therapies. The hotel also have a fully equipped gym, white towels at site and water bottles at hand, perfect for a rainy morning or afternoon workout.
We also had an amazing experience visiting local restaurants and beaches with a private driver the hotel scheduled for us and I highly recommend him, his name is Eddy, took us to two beautiful and amazing restaurants in town were we had amazing seafood dishes, our favorite was El Lugar for drinks and amazing dishes for dinner and we also had a great experience at Porto by Mosquito.
Overall Sublime Samana delivers what promises - a beautiful time to relax and reset.

The hotel is absolutely stunning, with beautifully maintained grounds and a perfect situation on a gorgeous and sparsely populated beach. Our suite was large and well-appointed; we loved the little touches like the welcome fruit basket and well-stocked fridge (though our jacuzzi tub did not have hot water, which kind of rendered it unusable). The staff was friendly and attentive (special shoutout to Dignairy and Maria at the spa, and Edwin at the BIstro).

The one area where the experience could have been strengthened was the foodservice which was inconsistent, without much variety, and yet very expensive. Meal portions and preparation varied; you could order the same meal again and it would be different. Likewise, there was no consistency in service. The first morning, you had to order a fruit plate as one of your courses; the next day, each table received a plate unbidden and the third, a server came around and offered fruit to each person. Not a big deal, just felt like some additional training would really help take Sublime Samana to the next level. Seafood is your best bet when ordering at either the BIstro or La Palapa. We found ourselves walking to the restaurants down the beach for lunch, going into Las Terranas for dinner or ordering takeout with the Komida app to provide some variety to our meals.

We stayed a few nights in Sublime Samana while touring the Dominican Republic.
We found the Samana Peninsula the most beautiful part of the DR.
For the hotel

Staff : All very helpful, friendly. I asked if I could change rooms and they did their best to show me other options. The staff at the restaurants are also really great! Love the hotel cats also which they seem to care for well.

Rooms: We had a one bedroom apartment, the first one was on the highest floor with high ceiling, it was beautiful but the A/C was very noisy. I asked to change rooms which did have a less noisy A/C (Although still bit noisy but turned the A/C off at night in the sleeping room). The rooms have shower only and limited amenities (Just basics like soap, shower gel). They were very clean. They also have a small kitchen and a big fridge. Kingsize beds were comfortable. Curtains are not full blackout. All of the apartments seem quiet as it's the hotel philosophy to have a relax and calm stay and they did succeed at it.

Food : Everything is A la carte, breakfast was nice and usually by the beach, lunch and dinner too, although rather limited menu options (It is fine for a few days but for longer stays you'll get bored of the same menu), some days the other restaurant was open which had a slightly more extensive menu. The quality of the food was generally good.

Hotel grounds and beach : The beach is beautiful it was very quiet, enough chairs to sit on and free beach towels. The pools are beautiful as well. The hotel is kept clean but as it's an open hotel it does have some bugs around the resort (It's really just the Dominican Republic) I never saw them in the room. If you're afraid of bugs than I believe you just need to choose another destination. The hotel really seems to have a good pest control and cleaning.

I was planning to stay next door at Wyndham but as I read some reviews it could be noisy at times and it was we could even hear their music at the beach in front of the hotel (Not disturbing), if you're looking for a quiet stay then Sublime is a great choice. Don't expect loud music, entertainment or massive buffets.

I have read some of the other reviews and can't believe people stayed at same place. I had an awful experience here. Avoid at all costs. The beach was nice, and clean and the bedroom and bathroom were large and clean with a large balcony, that is all that was good and didn't make up for a terrible experience! It started with the reservations team, who don't appear to exist which is clearly odd. I was instructed to email them (I had bought a package via a charity auction) after weeks of repeatedly emailing in an effort to book I phoned. Was told reservations was closed (this was during office hours) I asked when they would be open and phoned back, they were still closed, this went on for some time. Eventually I reached someone who acknowledged seeing my emails and offered no apology for non responsiveness. It should have been a sign I was not meant to go there, I wish I never had. Karina was the only one who bothered responding and I got there on Thursday. As stated the room was large and clean but very dated, with tired furniture, bizarrely it had a kitchen with a full size fridge, and saucepans but no plates. There were plates with the provided fruit basket which had a rotten orange, well I think it was an orange it was so rotten/moldy it was hard to tell. This was right on the top, so clearly no one bothered to look or cared. They took the plates away the next day. Not sure where one would have been able to buy food to cook or prepare didn't see anywhere nearby. It would have been great because every meal at the hotel was inedible. The food was revolting, even the breakfast which is usually adequate even at basic resorts. The bread was stale. Everything was poorly cooked and tasted vile. The restaurant staff were awkward and inattentive. At dinner first night I left a cocktail barely started (it was undrinkable tasted like a mix between petrol and medicine) no one bothered asking why or if it was ok. A waiter arrived with a basket of (stale) bread and just stood awkwardly at the table, apparently not knowing where to put it, eventually he tried to put it in front of me, where a plate would go. Although there were meant to be several restaurants, there was only ever one open. They claimed to be full but saw very few guests. There was a bar, but it was never open, no bar tender ever present. The beach was nice, but the cheap plastic chairs were so uncomfortable my back went into spasm after a short time so I wasn't able to enjoy that. The wifi was very spotty and unreliable. The "hot" water in the room was only ever luke warm. I could have dealt with these things but the food and beach facilities made it not an option. I checked out after two very long nights.

The Hotel Compound and the rooms were excellent. Large rooms with good A/C. Clean and tidy. Plenty of lounge chairs at the beach. Pristine and wonderful beach with lots of palmtrees. Two seperate pools for adults & families - both clean & nice.

The Food however did not live up to that and was quite poor. The dinner was very expensive (230 usd for 5) and subpar. Steak was tiny, overpriced (50 usd) and overcooked, some of the french fries raw and drenched in fat. Undercooked Pasta. Most of the dishes served cold or lukewarm (soup, fish, fries etc.). Portions in general were tiny to a degree that it was somewhat funny.
Same applies to breakfast. A la carte choice of a few tiny dishes, but only one of them. One Juice and black Coffee. Anything else was an extra charge - even the Cappucino was not included and we had to pay extra. Pancakes were cold and dry, Potatoes and bacon lukewarm and not very tasty.

Keeping in mind that this is a 5 Star Hotel, a Member of the SLH-Group (small luxury hotels of the World) and the according Prices there is a large discrepancy and gap between the excellent Hotel facilities and the poor and overpriced provided Dining/Breakfast with plenty of extra charges.
We did not feel any of the alleged world-class style that the Hotel claims about the Dining experience. Sometimes it felt like the chef lacked basic experience and the Food/Beverage Management was more interested in saving/making money instead of providing a 5-Star Hotel Experience.

We ended up renting a car only to get to other restaurants in the Area for Dinner and some days skipped breakfast before our day-trips to get some food in Las Terenas at the bakery.

Would certainly consider returning to this lovely place at the Beach of Las Terenas - but only if significant changes were made to the above-mentioned issues.

We spent 8 nights in this hotel convinced that doing
part of the Small Luxuary Hotels Leading of the world, we could not be disappointed.
The hotel itself
is beautiful, facing a beautiful wild beach. Beautiful setting, very beautiful park
very well maintained.
The rooms are very large and quite well decorated but not very well maintained for a hotel of this level.
On the other hand, catering is not at all up to standard. Breakfast is barely worth a 3 star, really
shameful, very little choice if not extra, you
eat there every day
Same thing.
Same for the restaurant menu which is very restricted and does not make you want to dine there at all, and the proof the restaurant is almost empty.
Also, the staff hardly speaks and understands English and is not particularly helpful, except for Arelys at the restaurant which was perfect and Clelisia at the reception who speaks perfect English, and who is always ready to help with a sincere smile. Thanks to them both!

Overall an excellent property located on one of the most stunning beaches in the world ! A paradise where you can walk left and right on the Coson beach for as long as you please.
The rooms are very nice and big, the garden of the hotel is truly beautiful with amazing views. The staff is very friendly!
Where we could see some improvement is the food and beverage offer. While the breakfast is really nice, in a lovely restaurant with sea views, the lunch and dinner offer didn’t satisfy our expectations and this is because there is hardly anything local on the menu, we felt the menu could have been offered anywhere in the world (Cesar salads, Burgers etc). We stayed at another property in Samana and there you could feel how much attention was given to the rich, local flavors. Also we felt like the food was extremely expensive, and we live in Switzerland which is already a very expensive country, so we felt like having four main course where the cheapest is 35 USD without 18% service and 10% tax and the most expensive 70 USD was a bit exaggerated. Also the food variety is a bit missing, if you stay more than 3 nights it gets very repetitive.
In terms of activities we strongly recommend the three virgin beaches, it is a long trip but absolutely spectacular!

As soon as you arrive, everything starts to slow down the beauty of the beach and the surrounding and the service just let you relax within one hour. Usually it takes me hours or days to arrive in a hotel and feel comfortable and really start relaxing. at Sublime it takes me maximum one hour and I am totally out of this world. Never had this experience anywhere else in my life.

We loved Sublime Samana Hotel. Our two-bedroom Casita was larger than we imagined and had all that we needed for our stay. The outside space is dreamy; the grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. The beach is stunning, and the location is fantastic for long walks in either direction. We enjoyed a few delicious meals at the restaurant by the water and loved early evening cocktails and watching the sun set. The people who work there are friendly and helpful without being overly solicitous. We're looking forward to returning, hopefully sooner than later!

We were recommended by a person who lives in the area for a long time. We were looking for a very quiet place and enjoy the wild beauty of the area. And it was just like that. The silence, the calm, the beautiful beach of the hotel, the palapa on the beach where we enjoyed breakfast and dinner, the large room with kitchen...
We felt well served in general, and especially by Carola, the executive chef, also Spanish. It made us feel very comfortable being aware of our needs at all times. I recommend asking about it, it will help you in whatever you need.

Hi We stayed at Sublime for 8 days just 2 weeks ago. Left to have lunch/ dinner many times. Everyone is super friendly and willing to help with any questions. I never feared for my safety( didn't leave at night as much : mostly for dinner , not for safety I just liked the alone time with my husband at Sublime )If you do leave Sublime at night just be aware it gets pretty dark n hard to see. Only negative is the driving. It's pretty hectic. You will be cut off, you will see wrong way drivers, you will see very minimal road /parking space. I didn't travel with children but saw so many at Sublime and in Las Terrenas. It was our honeymoon ( reason why no children were with us not because of safety) Theres a place down the beach of Sublime if your looking for different options of food as well. We had pizza and burgers in different areas in Las terrenas as well Hope this helps

Hi When we were there in mid June there was hardly any one there except for some crew members for a Mark Whalberg movie. It was a beautiful Stay! We did not notice the music to loud at Wyndham. There seemed to be enough trees with shade and lounges with umbrellas on side away from Wyndham. But again there wasn't many people there except for movie crew and they kept to themselves. My family got upgraded to presidential suite.!
