Our family spent a wonderful week here in July. I have only great things to say about this hotel. All staff were incredible. They are all very hardworking and very friendly and helpful at all times. The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. A huge shout out to the women who cooked and served breakfast. Delicious eggs cooked to order, plentiful fresh fruits, breads and Dominican cakes. Always a pleasure going each day to breakfast. The grounds are impeccably clean and the groundskeeper keeps the plants looking beautiful. The pool is beautiful, large and has very clean water. I loved swimming there each day. The pool guys check the water regularly. I am picky about pools as I swim a lot and this pool did not disappoint. They also have a cool mini bar where you can get drinks and snacks by the pool! Great idea. The rooms are well appointed and very clean. The housekeeping staff take great care of the rooms and are super friendly. I would have appreciated a bigger moka coffee pot to make coffee in room for two people. The room only had a small pot but I managed. While we were there the maintenance staff were constantly fixing and painting so it really looks like people care a lot about this property. We felt very safe at the hotel and the security guards were hardworking and friendly. The 24/7 reception staff and busboys were responsive to every inquiry, and extremely helpful and very prompt in responding to all of my emails prior to my trip. We had a quick check in and check out. I can’t say enough about this hotel and it’s staff. It really was the hardworking staff that made it a great vacation for my family. Proximity to the beach is 5 star. Thank you Albachiara and all staff for making our stay very comfortable and relaxing.

El hotel que reservamos estaba cerrado por el huracán, llegamos en la noche a este hotel porque necesitamos un lugar para dormir. Me cobraron el doble que cobraron de dominicanos. They charged us much more then the dominicans. When we couldn’t find a towel they charged us for 20 US Dollars! For one towel! And didn’t open the gate for us until we paid. It was very unpleasant experience.

I have 2 young children, and a husband who stayed here. We booked online, and once we got there, they charged us again, stating we needed a different room. We stay in 1 room hotels in the USA- never had an issue. Walk don't run from this place- here is the email sent to the hotel with the details of what occurred Hello: I would like to give you the opportunity to correct a billing issue, before I pursue this further thru social media reviews, business bureaus, and any agencies in the DR that regulates hotels. When I checked in on July 6th, I was told I would have to have a larger room because my kids' names were not on the reservation. I explained at that time, I did not want a larger room, and as long as it had a king bed, and couch, it would suffice. I was told that was not possible by the person at the front desk. She stated she couldn't get through to the owner to get a price difference, but would explain the situation, and the charge would be minimal. I was hesitant also, because I did not want my children upstairs by themselves in a separate room, with clear access to get out. I explained again, I wanted the room I paid for, which was a king bed, with a partial seaside view (which we did not get). Since we just flew in, had an IPHONE stolen, and were exhausted, we allowed her to move us to this room. I also did not keep persisting because I was told the charge would be minimal, and my kids at this point were embarrassed, and wanted to get into a room. The evening before we left, I was told I must pay an additional $248 if it was cash, or $314.70. I told the person on duty, and the owner/manager I didn't have that, and should not be paying anything extra since the room I paid for was repeatedly denied to me. I was then told to pay what I could... To my surprise, the desk person charged me the full amount of $314.70. This is wrong. I paid for a room with a king size bed. The room had a sofa. My child slept on the sofa, as she didn't want to be upstairs without her Mom. This is fraud. You can't deny me the room I booked, and paid for, and then tell me I owe almost the same amount as I paid. I paid $422.22. If you prevent me from taking the apartment with the king bed, then that is your decision, not yours. I also went online, and saw there are one bedroom apartments with 2 beds. That was never an option given to us. I want the credit of $313.70 credited back to me by the end of day Friday. If not, I will make it my job to let the world know that I believe you defraud people. I would like to think this is a misunderstanding, however, I had spoken to 3 people about the charge, to no avail. This is nothing short of fraud. My next actions will be dependent on yours. Below is my original payment and room description as well as the 2nd amount you charged me.

Stunned by all the great reviews which we relied on for booking. What an error …. not at all our experience. First, the place is across a busy highway/street from the beach (not on private beach as advertised …. anything but private). Second, the noise from the courtyard pool and streets (trucks and motos) was deafening even in the bedrooms. The party never seemed to stop. Third, the lack of A/C (only the bedrooms have it) was really disappointing given the heat. Fourth, there is no restaurant or cafe as advertised, only a crowded and rather unkept breakfast room. Fifth, internet only works around the pool and not in the rooms. And finally but not exhaustive, very little English spoken so not great for those of us non-Spanish speakers. Seriously, the advertising and rating for this place is MISLEADING at best. Consider other options!!!

I rented two three bedroom apartments for a family vacation in May. The hotel is beautiful, clean and well maintained. Everything was perfect from the bottled water provided, to the clear/clean pool and gorgeously landscaped grounds. The made to order breakfasts were outstanding! They also had plenty of fresh fruit, pastries, breads and freshly made juices. All of the staff were friendly, helpful and professional. I travel several times a year and frequently stay at high end hotels, this one is a gem, I highly recommend them!

Albachiara is located right in front on the ocean with an amazing beach, boardwalk and shop. The fisherman's market is right across the street and new catch come in daily around noon. Everything is walking distance. The hotel offers a large patio that lead to an indoor/outdoor kitchen fully equipped kitchen with a 4 gas burner top, microwave oven, espresso kettle and a large residential fridge. Multiple chairs to sit on at different inclinations and comfort. The bedroom is separated from the rest of the room with its large bathroom, king size bed and A/C quiet, quiet and quiet, your sleep will not be disturbed. Been there twice just love it. Included is breakfast with all you can eat, cooked to order and fresh fruits.

Our experience was great. The hotel accommodations were pristine and very comfortable. The managers Javier and Juan were outstanding and invested in providing any efforts to make us feel at home. I would recommend this Albachiara for the closeness to the beach, the comfortable installation but specially their kind and helpful staff.

Location: The hotel is centrally located across the street from Las Terrenas beach which is not a beach that you can speak of but you will be pretty near from Punta Popy and that one is beautiful! Don’t bother looking for a hotel that has it’s own beach cause non of them in Las Terrenas have one but it doesn’t matter since they are just steps away. About the Hotel: They have a promo which is cash only: us55 per person per night and babies under 2 years go free. No deposit was required They include daily cleaning, fumigation and the breakfast (very good and is located in the second floor, you can enjoy the beach view and they have a high chair) but don’t include lunch or dinner. Service is very nice and friendly The check in is at 12pm and check out is at 1pm but maybe for the low season they are accepting guest to arrive early and leave late for free. They called me at 9am to tell me the apartment was ready and we could go. And on the departure we left around 2:30pm but they told us we could stay longer (loved that, specially because we almost had the whole property all for ourselves since it was in low occupancy. Can’t describe how relaxing it was) They give you two beach cards for the towels and give you a courtesy beach bag (thank you) About the apartment: (I’ll show you the pictures they sent me) It was the apartment 14, facing the pool. They are pretty big: private balcony with furniture, kitchen well equipped and plenty of drinking water, two TV, living room with furniture, there is a bidet in the bathroom which is very important to me, bathroom amenities were clean towels, 2 shampoos and 2 shower gel (didn’t see conditioner or a telephone in the room), and two toilet paper; huge bed and huge closet, air conditioning, ceiling fan, we also requested a crib when we made the reservation and it was there when we arrived. clean and perfect 👌🏼 Cons: -The bed was extremely noisy and it was a real issue because we went with our toddler Good to know: -I heard there is an issue with the mosquitoes in Las terrenas. I saw about 3 of them inside the apartment especially in the closet but didn’t have a problem with them. I did bring a mosquito nest and repellent but didn’t have to use them so take the precaution just in case -there is a curfew in the country that goes from 9pm to about 7am but you can still order delivery food till 10pm -there’s an App called “komida” and another one called “rapidfood” where you can see the menu and prices of different restaurants in las terrenas that have delivery -there are bars and restaurants that are close on mondays or tuesdays, some week days, so do research before you go. Look for the places you want to visit, most of them are on instagram, facebook, trip advisor... check their phone number and call before you go. -there are lots of places that doesn’t have high chair for babies and some of them have just one -there are places and restaurants that are cash only Good Reataurants near by: Right next to the hotel you will find a popular and very good rated restaurant named “El Lugar” find it on instagram as “el lugar las terrenas”. And in the same street there are other very popular restaurants such as “Dolce Vita” this one is very romantic and beautifully decorated, perfect for fine dining we went there for my birthday. Look for it on instagram as “dolce vita ristorante” they have more than 70 plates. Then in the same street but a little bit further you will find El Porto Restaurante (instagram: “portobymosquito” and El Balcon del Mosquito beach bar (instagram: elmosquitobeachbar) You can’t miss them! Right on a beautiful beach and they have a swing for babies and adults, a slide and a mini house for kids Other options in El Pueblo de Los pescadores: Campo Kitchen: dominican restaurant with succulent and exquisites plates. I died for their food and they do karaokes and happy hours. Their instagram: “campokitchendr” Baraonda, in Alisei Hotel Empanadas y Mas: try the shrimp and cheese Empanada

We moved from another unsuitable hotel to Albachiara. What a good choice we made! The employees where immediately smiling, kind and attentive to us and our needs. The grounds are gorgeous and pristine as is the Pool. The breakfast is outstanding each morning. The rooms are actually apts, with separate bedroom, kitchen, dining/living area along with a large open air balconies with shades. So much space you feel at home. The decor is mediocre, but everything else makes up for it! The location is great for shopping, beach and restaurants. Albachiara is a wonderful choice for your stay in Las Terrenas!

My wife and I have stayed here 6x now and I would stay this location just gets better. The property itself is pristine, with well manicured foliage The staff is very friendly and you can tell they take pride in keeping this hotel looking awesome. The full breakfast is top notch along with the kitchen help enjoying a beach view that can’t be beat while eating breakfast. Great location being across the street from the beach and quick walk into town. It’s a shame that this awesome area has been effected by the bad news of the deaths in the DR. Will be back again. Get out of your comfort zone and give this place a try. You will see for yourself and be back again as we have. 👍
