I held my best friends baby shower here last weekend and what a lovely experience it was! We had the Library suite which was a spacious room, the afternoon tea was brilliant and worth the money, massive thank you to Rachel, Chris, Sorrin, Ben & the Chef for making our experience so wonderful. Will definitely be back!

Our room, which was essentially great apart from the polyfilla in the middle of the wall and the broken bath bordering panel. It was otherwise very comfortable and quiet. Evening meal - great but were were charged £27 for a glass of wine and two coffees. Breakfast - We had a timeslot allocated . It took us over an hour to reach the front of the queue. We were then asked to put in our order and were asked to wait in the middle of the restaurant. Eventually we were asked to come to another desk to order drinks and sundries.. We were then seated less than half a metre from two other tables crammed into one corner. It was chaos - I eventually went to the reception to ask if someone from management could please come to the dining room and was told that "I don't know what is going on in the dining room, management are already there, helping in the kitchen". As I have a L2 food hygiene certificate, I offered to help clear tables or serve or help in some way (presumably the management also have this qualification to work in the kitchen?). My offer was declined by the receptionist who said "the management are aware, it's a learning curve". It is not as if the staff did not know how many guests to expect at breakfast in the morning. Coffee arrived about ten minutes later. The cooked breakfast did not. Eventually we got - Two nicely poached eggs, half a cold mushroom, one tomato, one raw sausage. I raised all these points in an email to the hotel manager, who has so far ignored me.

Dear Karen D Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. You do not specify which day you experienced such a disappointing breakfast, but I assume that this was during the half term week. We acknowledge that things could have been better on some of those days, and apologise for the delays. We unfortunately had occasional staffing shortages on days when we had high volume which affected service. It is true that management were helping in all departments of the hotel helping ease the pressure, and it is also true that all have Health & Safety and Food Safety qualifications to be able to assist. We are one team and do what we can to provide a good experience for our guests. I am confident that the experience you had is rare and that systems have been improved. I am sorry to say that I have not see the email you sent, please could you resend to the main reception email and I will be glad to respond accordingly. Thank you again for taking the time to share your comments.

The staff here are delightful, friendly and very courteous. The young man in the restaurant on Tuesday night could not have been better. Dinner was lovely if a little pricey. Breakfast experience, service and food was very good. The spa facilities and beer garden/sunny terrace are for me a big bonus and would make me come back and stay again. If the weather is sunny the grounds are lovely to sit in or even sunbathe. Recommended for a relaxing stay.
