There's a stunning mountain view from the room. You can cook a simple meal there and sit outside watching the sun go down. The nearby road is a bit noisy from morning to night but you can put up with that for the view. Anne & Arthur made us feel very welcome even leaving the door open for our arrival with a note to say they'd be back later. There were a couple of towels by the inviting pool with an invitation to take a dip. Well it was nearly 30 C and we'd had a long drive. You can leave the car and take an easy stroll into the town for a fascinating Chinese history tour as well as finding all the local shops and restaurants. Its a nice place, Arrowtown.

I was travelling with my daughter, so 2 beds were important. Not only did we have this, but separate bedrooms and ensuites and all for a very reasonable price. We only stayed one night - but thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and appreciated a very welcoming Anne letting us check in in the morning,so we could unload before exploring Arrowtown. A small kitchenette -with microwave, fridge, toaster and kettle -so easy to make our breakfast (coffee/tea/milk is supplied but no breakfast) and a comfortable sitting room with local books on walks etc, and even apples to eat from the trees outside. Excellent shower with good pressure and plenty of heaters meant we both had an excellent sleep. A great start to our wee break - we would both happily stay again and highly recommend this. Thanks Anne.

We have just returned from 5 wonderful weeks in New Zealand (March 2012). We thoroughly enjoyed our two days at the Arrowtown Homestay and would like to recommend it to small families or couples. Anne and Arthur are very friendly and helpful and their home is well designed as a B and B as the lower level has its own private entrance. There are two king size bedrooms on the lower level, each with its own ensuite bathroom. The sitting area is very comfortable and has a small fridge and sink so that one can fix tea, coffee or breakfast easily. The windows all look out over the magnificent view. There is a patio with a table out back where one can relax with a glass of wine or have a take out meal. The walk into town is easy and there are some excellent restaurants. I would happily return to visit Anne and Arthur in their wonderful location.

We stayed but one night at Anne and Arthur Gormack's Arrowtown Homestay while on a madcap exploration of South Island. Their home, which they designed and built, is lovely with an incredible view. The location is perfect for walking to town and back after dinner, and it is so quiet. We stayed in the spacious lower floor of their home which is essentially a separate two-bedroom, two-bath apartment. The bedroom was well appointed; the bed comfortable with quality linens. Magazines were placed on the nightstands as well as an emergency flashlight. The bathroom was sparkling clean with a wonderful shower, good towels and a towel warmer. A comfortable guest lounge with computer, t.v., dvd player, tea and coffee making supplies was inviting along with an outdoor guest sitting area, both of which overlooked the marvelous view. Anne offered the use of their pool, which looked extremely inviting as it was a hot day, but we were set on exploring Arrowtown and it's river walk/Chinese town memorial. Before we left for town, we washed a load of laundry and when we returned Anne had dried our clothes and set them in the lounge. She and Arthur were friendly and so helpful.

Having been to Queenstown on a previous trip and found it just abit too touristy we decided to base ourselves for a week in Arrowtown and we're so very glad we did. We stayed at Arrowtown Homestay with Anne and Arthur Gormack, who are the nicest, kindest warmest people it's possible to meet. We were made so welcome, their home was ours for the week, including the pool - the glass of wine by the pool in glorious sunshine made for a perfect memory. We had one of two beautifully furnished ensuite rooms as well as a guest sittingroom and terrace shared by both rooms. The rooms and terrace looked over the Wakatipu Basin with the mountains beyond - the sunsets were amazing. Every morning we watched as hot air balloons soared into the sky, wonderful. As well as providing a great breakfast (homemade muesli, bread and yoghurt with various fruits) Anne popped grapes into a basket for us every morning as well as bringing a lovely lemon cake to us one evening. After discussing the merits of making bread Anne whipped up foccacia for us (perfect for our lunches). We simply couldn't have been made more welcome and long to go back. Arrowtown is lovely - especially in the evening when the coaches have left and the restaurants (including Millbrook Resort) come into their own. It's also a great base for exploring the area, including Queenstown.
