Staying at Cicada Lodge Nitmiluk Suites during our weekend in Katherine. This is fantastic accommodation - clean, well looked after and modern. Due to Covid (staff shortages) they can’t staff the main lodge, however other than the restaurant not being open, it’s been a good experience. Room has both airconditioning and a fan - keeps the space very cool (which we needed in 40 degree heat!). Big positive is we are located next to Katherine Gorge and enjoyed a brilliant dinner cruise! Best accommodation in the region!

Booked the experience but due to staff shortages the meal and drinks component was removed. We were given a proportionate refund and ate at the campground bistro. The rooms are large, spotless and so comfy. The exclusive pool is lovely. And walking distance to the visitor centre, the gorge and walks. Our room wasn’t serviced while we were there as the Cicada lodge isn’t fully running. Hardly 5 star service, considering what you pay for it! Hence my 4* rating.

The lodge itself is beautiful and the rooms give you that luxury feel after a busy day out exploring the area. This part I would be happy to give 5/5. Due staff shortages, the restaurant and bar for the lodge was closed. So breakfast was over at the reception/Cafe area and you could only get snacks and toasties for breaky. This was closed when you returned from an early morning boat cruise, it was also shut when you left on your cruise. Dinner was at the main pool area of the camp ground and there were choices of pizza, steak and barramundi. The latter 2 were served with your choice of salads.... the meals were very good, simple but good. Great cocktails were available. We asked to buy a bottle of wine to take back to our room, but this was declined due to licencing rules. There was no where to contact reception via phone, so you need to physically visit the desk. It was concerning if there was an emergency as there is no phone reception unless you have Telstra. There was no WiFi code, no free breakfast as advertised. Reception was not particularly helpful when asking for assistance, we were even asked if we spoke English when we asked for clarification about billing. Booking is difficult as you cannot talk on the phone but you must email. This place has so much potential, so if you come bring some of your own food and drinks and enjoy your room and tours, expect the staff shortage and I'm sure you'll enjoy the serenity of the Gorge and the surrounds.

The rooms are lovely - large, clean, newish, air conditioned, quiet with comfortable beds. It is such a shame that the restaurant and bar are closed, this means food options on site are very limited - snack facility at the visitors centre for breakfast and lunch (basically toasted sandwiches) and pizzas or basic options at the main camp site pool for dinner (assuming you can get one of the few outdoor tables). Check-in is at the visitors centre and if something goes wrong it’s a walk back there to try and get it fixed because the phones don’t work. It might be a good idea to completely disable the guest wi-fi (as there is no access code). The evening manager had to evict a few noisey groups from the small pool who were not staying there. It has the potential to be a very special and lovely place to stay but it really needs to be fully operational vs accommodation only.

we spent two beautiful nights here right on the edge of Catherine Gorge. Excellent luxury rooms wonderful gourmet food. As this is leased and on Aboriginal land it is designed so if ever removed to leave no footprint. so even the pool is above ground but raise decks and boardwalks interconnect everything.
