We visited about 6 years ago when the hotel first opened. Not the same place. Poor management - food has deteriorated and dominated by people who are there to drink. Not great for kids. Unlimited food and drink has the downside of poor quality. The local spirits are bad and you have to make sure the food is fresh. If... More

Having read some of the recent reviews (well, one in particular), I do genuinely wonder whether these people hail from a parallel universe somewhere near the planet Thargg! I am certainly convinced they don’t live on planet Earth!! My family of 4 stayed at the Riu Guanacaste at the end of June/beginning of July and we absolutely LOVED the place!... More

The Hotel itself was nice, location was not far from the airport, the drive itself was scenic enough. The room was nice, bed was comfortable enough, it did lack the basic essentials in the bathroom like conditioners and quality shampoo and body wash. We got "upgraded" to the ocean view but because we are on the second floor the palm... More

Second time staying at this hotel. The pool was fairly large with a swim up bar. There we met many new friends. The food was average. Room was clean and cool. It's a little frustrating trying to get a reservation at one of the restaraunts.

Hotel Riu Guanacaste is very nice and relaxing, the food is always very good, lots of good choices to choose from, it is close to many natural volcanic springs, there are tons of natural adventures to explore. A country rich in nature and a perfect place to naturally detox and rejuvenate.

Beautiful black sand beach with an unbeatable sunset. Resort grounds are very well kept. This is the best beach/ jungle combo you can find. My room was ocean view with jungle to my right. I enjoyed sitting on my balcony as I take in both the ocean view & animals howling early dawn.

This was our first stay with a Riu resort. It will NOT be our last time. The resort is spectacular. The staff was amazing, kind, hard working. The grounds were beautiful. The specialty restaurants were all great (we did not go to gourmet). Steak restaurant you do eat in one of the buffets that are opened to the outside. It... More

The hotel is a bit far from the airport, but the ride let's you see all the breathtaking views of Costa Rica. The hotel staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Although it is an all-inclusive resort, be sure to make your dinner reservations ASAP. They book fast and you'll be left hungry or at the buffet. The Ocotal is outdoors and... More

The resort was beautiful hands down. We did the all inclusive package which was an awesome. It covered all our drinks and buffet food. They also have a couple nicer restaurants within the resort, but they are not part of the all inclusive deal. Our room was nice, large room with a large bathroom, open bar in the room. However... The worse all inclusive I've ever experienced, but what did I expect with the price I paid. This hotel was booked by someone in my group and I wondered why it was only $1400 for two people. I should have known by the price that it was going to be terrible. Our Room: Was old, run-down and needed some serious... More
