Detailed Reviews
Stayed here for 3 nights whilst visiting the area. Beautiful location and very comfortable rooms.
Staff were so welcoming and friendly and were keen to ensure our stay was enjoyable.
Full Scottish breakfast was superb but it would be good to offer some fruit at breakfast if a cooked breakfast is not wanted.
Dinner was very good and plentiful with excellent service.
This was a great place to stay as a base to explore the area and the walk from the inn along the coast is stunning.

We stayed here for one night due to proximity to Stranraer. We chose the hotel as it's dog friendly for our puppy.
Overall a comfortable and welcoming stay.
We had a large room with a wonderful view over the bay.
The room was basic but comfortable and had everything we needed including complimentary toiletries and teas and coffees. Our bed was huge and very comfortable.
Our evening meal in the restaurant and breakfast were tasty and generous.
Really couldn't fault the place or food which provided excellent value for money.
We would love to stay again.

Thought I'd try something different from The Fish Menu. Scallops Starter and Monkfish Main both were very Tasty and well presented . One of the best meals I have tasted. Well done all . Excellent 😊 Definitely one to try

4 of us drove an hour to visit this little place based soley on reviews about the food here at the Harbour inn. We had 3 dogs with us and with it being a rather splendidly warm sunny day we walked though tbe pub to the beer garden outside. it was fairly busy and all of the table that had parasols were taken so we were out in the blazing sun, broken parasols were noted laying on the ground. We asked for cokes and lime and sodas, but the waitress told us they haven't got any gas in the pub so would have to have cans or cordials. They also can do Gluten free batter on their fish (main reason for the drive there) so with my wife gluten intolerant she ordered the GF Haddock and Chips and myself the normal Haddock and chips. We waited around 15 mins for the food which is fine. The plates arrived and i was a bit disappointed to be honest, the batter on both fish wasnt cooked it was pales and soggy, the fish itself was swimming in the cooking oil, and the flesh had no distinctive haddock flavour at all, which lends itself to bad cooking and poor freshness, tiny amount of chips also. Coleslaw came in a ramekin but was a thing layer ontop of iceberg lettuce. all round not that good really. We had expected better. Maybe our next visit may prove to be.

We visited The Harbour Inn twice during our stay nearby.
We only go to eateries that are dog friendly, which can limit choice somewhat.
The Harbour Inn is indeed dog friendly and welcome dogs in both the bar and restaurant area.
Good and drink wise it’s a definite five out of five for quality.
My wife had the haddock and chips on our first visit, salmon on our second visit. I went for the home made burger with onion rings and chips.
Everything is fresh, tasty and good sized portions. Their Belhaven ales were spot on and the staff are helpful and friendly, giving a very pleasant atmosphere to The Harbour Inn. Prices are also more than reasonable, main course, desserts, coffee and drinks for two coming in at around £56, exceptional value.
Definitely a VERY good find, but even in late May it’s a good idea to make a booking as this is deservedly a popular place to eat.

We visited here a few times during our stay in Garliston, which was about 20 minutes walk away. Friendly bar staff, very welcoming with some little treats for the dog too. We had the Sunday lunch which was very nice and a good plateful. I wasn't going to have a dessert but when the friendly waitress mentioned sticky toffee pudding I changed my mind, and so glad i did, it was so nice and a decent piece too. The locals are very friendly too. Will go back when visiting again.

stayed one night on our motorbike tour of Dumfries, wished we had stayed longer. My room was huge with a stunning view of the sea, we had an excellent meal and spent the evening in the bar chatting to people. The staff were soooo friendly and the breakfast kept us going all day. The room was so quiet never heard a noise all night and slept like a baby :) Hopefully will visit again in the near future

Where do I start? Quite simply, one of the best places that I’ve ever stayed at. The location is stunning. If you’re looking for something like Blackpool then don’t bother. Garlieston is such a quiet and peaceful place. There’s plenty to do in the area and I particularly recommend Logan Botanical gardens and Castle Kennedy gardens for a visit. The Harbour Inn was the cherry on the cake. No, it was a whole orchard of cherry trees.
The room was superb overlooking the bay. I could sit on the bed and watch the tide come in and the heron fishing. The bed? My god, I didn’t want to get out of it. I thought I liked a hard mattress. Not anymore. It was like I was being cradled in a giant marshmallow. Bliss. Huge bathroom with a good shower.
The food! They had to widen the doors to get me out of there. Breakfast was huge. It kept us going from 9:30am until 8:45pm one day. It was cooked to perfection too. Same goes for the evening meal. We sampled steak pie, sea bass, the Harbour Inn burger and rib eye steak, all were excellent. Book early because it was packed every night.
I could go on. In fact, I will because special mention has to go to every single member of staff who go above and beyond. Friendly, super efficient and so welcoming. I had to be dragged screaming from my room this morning as I didn’t want to leave. I will DEFINITELY be back. 10/10.
