Our stay at Arcadia Lodge was nothing short of perfect! We enjoyed two nights in the Tautoru suite, which was quiet, spacious, had a separate entrance and lovely view - not to mention the MOST comfortable bed. The Lodge is a brief stroll to the waterfront, ferry, local restaurants, and other sights. It was nice to park our car upon arrival and walk anywhere we wanted to go during our time in Russell. Greg and Peter were incredible hosts. They provided a brief history of the Lodge upon our arrival, as well as set us up for a tour we wanted to take the next day. Greg and Peter have an honesty bar stocked with local wines in the main house. A bottle of crisp rose on the patio was just what we needed after our drive up! And the FOOD...oh my gosh, the food! Other reviews mentioned just how delightful the breakfast is, and there is not one exaggeration. We had fresh croissants and toast with jams/jellies made by Peter, a cold breakfast buffet with yogurt, cereals, and fruits, and a hot dish each morning. The two mornings we enjoyed, we were served an imaginative courgette pesto toast and croque monsieur. YUM. This couple's attention to the smallest detail is what made our stay blissfully restful and a highlight of our trip. I've already shared my experiences with friends who are considering a trip to New Zealand and noted that if they end up in the Bay of Islands, a stay here is a must. I would love to return again myself!

Property's Favorite Review
We had a wonderful four nights at Arcadia. Greg and Peter were superb hosts, knowledgable, flexible, accommodating and really good company. The room was immaculate, the house beautiful and the breakfasts superb. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and relaxed. The honesty bar, the tea and coffee and the cookies were all welcomed. The view is excellent and it only takes ten minutes to walk into Russell. If we are ever lucky enough to be back in New Zealand we will not hesitate stay here again. Kia Kaha New Zealand, do not let the terrorists win, you are a kind, welcoming people in a safe and beautiful country.

Arcadia Lodge is an incredible getaway in a gorgeous location. Greg and Peter are the most gracious hosts and really make everyone feel at home. The breakfasts are as beautiful as they are delicious and they offer many local wines at a very reasonable price to enjoy on the porch. The rooms are immaculate and have an old world style in keeping with the house while still feeling fresh and well maintained. There is also a beautiful garden in the front to walk through or just enjoy from the house. I found it difficult to leave and go explore because I wanted to spend more time at the lodge, but the guys gave us lots of great recommendations for things to do in town. I highly recommend making Arcadia Lodge your home while you're in the Bay of Islands!

The property, service, so close to town wat a great place! You will feel right at home as soon as you arrive! We stayed in the two bedroom with a sunroom called Matariki, first floor with a really nice view. The bathroom was spacious and well stocked. They have a refrigerator stocked with beer/cola and a shelve full of wine for sale, very inexpensive. The grounds are well taken care of, nice garden as you walk in. The breakfast is very nice, they really make a point to make sure everything is covered. I have some allergies to food and he really listened and made me a wonderful breakfast each morning! If you need some ideas where to go out to eat or go, they will help with that! You can walk to town in less than ten minutes, easy walk, lots of shopping and restaurants! You will be happy you stayed!
