Stayed here for 3 nights on 5 week NZ tour. Drove from Auckland which took around 5 hours with a couple of stops. Lovely location right on waterfront. We had an excellent room with views of the sea. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay helping us to book trips etc. We even got breakfast delivered to... More

Our third stay at this great spot. Super food and wines, recently revamped bedrooms with a superb view over the bay. The staff are friendly and helpful. Faded English interior. You could ask for no more. An area of great beautiful, bay with small craft bobbing about, small shingle beach, good cafes and restaurants, Musuem and art galleries. Little traffic... More

We went for dinner the other night, right from entry the service was excellent. Wait staff made an effort to find us a great table on deck so we could appreciate the lovely view and village atmosphere. Food was of a high standard and presentation. As a local I am very proud that such a great restaurant exists in our... More

We saw this historic hotel while visiting Russell and decided to have lunch on terror verandah. The staff were courteous, friendly and knowledgable on the menu. The oysters are magnificent, the fish was sooo fresh and the drinks were cold and refreshing. The prices were reasonable and we would stay in the accommodation if we revisit.

The Duke of Marlborough is a fantastic heritage hotel and restaurant on the waters edge in the idyllic town of Russell. We stayed for three nights in a waterfront room and everything was amazing. Attentive staff, a superb menu - demonstrated by the fact that we ate there three nights in a row and every meal was superb and with... More

It's the oldest licensed hotel in New Zealand and whilst it oozes charm it also meets all the requirements of the 21st century traveller. Opt for a sea view room - the hotel is right on the waterfront and the view is stunning. We had room 7 on the corner of the building. Light and bright decor. Very spacious with... More

After taking the Old Russell Road, we were happy to arrive at the hotel. We were made welcome and comfortable in our 1st floor room. The food over the next couple of days was exceptional, and the Sea food Chowder was the outright winner in our travels over the next month. The location.and all round experience was most enjoyable. We wanted to stay here when we planned our trip. It's on the seafront overlooking the Russell jetty and we enjoyed a beautiful sunset after a great meal. The rooms and the decor is due some update however the rooms were clean and tidy. All this was made up for by the view from the bedroom. A bit pricey for... More

We went over here on recommendation and there was no disappointment. The atmosphere and staff were exceptional. The food was great they gave you great choices including tasting plates of local dishes. The food was served quickly and although well spaced. The liquorice parfait at the end was really good. Would definitely come back here again when visiting.
