I enjoyed a lovely flight of New Zealand wines along side delicious oysters, as we looked out over the Bay. A wonderful spot for lunch or dinner, and take some time to look at all the historic photos around the building.

We met a friend here for dinner, taking the ferry across from Paihia. It is a lovely spot on a cold winters night and the view from the windows is beautiful. There was a fire with comfortable soft seating around it- great for an after dinner port. The staff are friendly and attentive. The wine list excellent and the menu... More

Fun ambiance and delicious food. Attentive waitstaff. People of all ages there from families to elderly. It's very fun to be in the first hotel to open in New Zealand. You can imagine the atmosphere in the late 1800s from the decor and photos.

We dined casually for lunch. Absolutely superb. Generous meal sizes and gorgesouly tasty. (Spelling?) Excellent wait staff who knew exactly what each meal breakdown was; and the best drinks to support them. Comfortable seating with interesting decor. Warm fire on the inside. Well done

My husband and I had an expected late arrival, but the staff were prepped and ready to receive us quickly and get us into our room. Such a lovely room! There's a very nice tea bar in the sitting area and spacious bathroom. The king size bed was extremely comfortable and with the amazing view of the bay in the... More

Stunning day which brings this beautiful old hotel out to its best. We had a waterfront room which is highly recommended. Tastefully decorated and a lovely deck attached on which we watched the sun go down over a pottle of local oysters and a glass of Syrah. Perfect evening topped off with an amazing dinner. 8 hrs slow cooked lamb... More

Have always wanted to stay here. Asked for a room facing the Bay. Perfect room, complete with two leather armchairs. Beautiful lotions in the bathroom. Free Wi-Fi. Also a laundry, which was wonderful as we had been travelling for a few days. Continental breakfast was included and couldn't be faulted. The staff were all very friendly.

The day was very wet and windy. Beautiful old hotel very old fashioned but cosy on a wet day. We had lunch it was nice but nothing amazing I ordered the hamburger and the beef patty was very rare that's fine if you are told that when ordering, that was disappointing The fish and chips were OK. Service average staff... More
