Old place with some interesting quirky bits. After check in and being taken to our room the reception lady informed us that the rooms were being slowly renovated. We had a small room overlooking the car park. Queen bed air con and little en suite with a bizarre tap for the sink which makes for some interesting washing. Bar and...

Fantastic location with one of the best evening views you could find. Enjoy a drink in the evening with a beautiful sunset you'll find anywhere in the world. Nice little town too. However the Duke of Marlborough is a very tired building. Even its charm is overpowered by the desperate need of a refurb. Also food not great choice and...

I was advised to try the Seafood Chowder by another visitor, so I tried the Chowder while my wife tried the Fish Salad. Unfortunately our order got lost so we had about a 40 minute delay for our meals. The meals themselves were lovely, my chowder was creamy, reasonably thick and had a good level of seafood. The smoked fish...

We stayed here for a wedding, beautiful views, beautiful restaurant, friendly staff and the portraits of Maori Chiefs were amazing. Would definitely recommend staying here, the place is modern yet has an old feel to it.

We are in love with the Duke of Marlborough Hotel!! We started our holiday in New Zealand celebrating New Year at this marvellous hotel. We were extremely well looked after from the moment we arrived to the day we left. Our three night stay was brilliant. Due to our plane arrival being delayed we didn't arrive at the hotel until...

We had a Governers Burger for lunch today, it was the worst Burger I have ever had, the meat paddy (rissole) was raw and uneatable, and at $24 for a burger and a handful of fries isn't good value even if the burger was good. Having walked the back street after lunch there were more cafes and eateries available that...

The Duke of Marlborough is the oldest best located hotel in Russell. 50 meters from the pier where you catch the ferries and directly on the water this hotel is in the middle of it all. The challenge is that the hotel is desperately in need of an upgrade. The room we stayed in was a great size, overlooked the...

We took the ferry from Paihia Island to Russell to have dinner at this beautiful restaurant. Due to some confusion, the booking was not received . However the lovely lady in charge was helpful and managed to give us a table even though restaurant was busy. Thank you. The ambience is vintage with gorgeous framed photos, polished wooden and leather furniture...

The Duke of Marlbrough in Russell is sitting on a iconic location. The building built in the early 1900 oozes charm of a by gone era. The food and service was of a high standard, just what you would expect after walking into this well set restaurant. We had the lamb shoulder share plate and it was very nice and...
