The rain was tumbling down, our Great Taste Cycle Trail journey was daunting and not looking like to brochures at all but arriving at Doone cottage was a welcome respite from the elements. I stayed here on my own for two nights 7th & 8th Jan as my last stop on the South Island during my trip to NZ. I stayed in the cabin in the garden which has the most amazing views of the mountain, and was very peaceful and quiet, just the birds singing. Glen is a wonderful hostess and nothing...

We loved the mountain views from the cottage and thrilled to hear the bleating of the sheep and the heehaws of her (ancient) donkeys. It was a most peaceful stay and the breakfasts offered were substantial and very tasty. The cottage unit was comfortable without being...

The owner, Glen Davenport, is an artist and a weaver, and her good taste is...

Stay 2 or 3 days so you can visit Abel Tasmin and the beach, hike or fish, go wine tasting, see the excellent crafts and pottery in the area. Glen is the best hostess in New...

You'll need transport, but it's well worth the trip up to beautiful Motueka Valley to reach Doone Cottage. Set above the river, the beautiful garden is a sun-trap. Plenty to do in the area, whatever your interests. Suggest staying 3 nights so you have time to explore and to chill out. And it's also worth asking if you can have...
