I stayed here the night before starting the Abel Tasman Coast Track. I knew it was right above a bar, but it was a Thursday night. How late could this place be loud on a no Thursday night? 2 in the morning. On a Thursday. Do not stay here if you ever want to sleep.

We stayed here and Richard, his wife and staff were the most accommodating kind people I have come across. The place is nice and tidy and they make the most delicious wedges and have great wine, thank you!

$10 jugs! Can't say no to that. My mates and I have just started course and we pop down to this lovely pub to have a laugh over a beer! We love the atmosphere, people are lovely and they play the rugby, what's there to hate? Fantastic pub snacks also. We'll definately be back!!

Excellent valued Jugs at !0 dollars for 1.8 litres. Popular with Rugby crowd and has history I that regard. I enjoyed because it had real customers and most were local so a bit rough and ready but authentic. its not tourists wanting a posh meal

I was desperately looking for a place to stay because everything in Nelson seemed to be booked out. Then I found the Royal Hotel in Nelson which not only still had quite a lot of rooms left but also was managed by a few very nice people. I got a comfortable bed, ice cold beer and quickly felt very welcome...

Richard, the owner, and his family welcomed my girlfriend and I with open arms as if we were old friends. By the 2nd night we felt like family. It seemed like we stepped foot onto the set of Cheers with the revolving cast of characters that crossed our paths in this bar. Hands down the most generous and genuine people...

The Royal Hotel's owners, Karen and Richard are super friendly and you can't help hanging out in the bar downstairs talking with them over a great local craft beer (or three). They keep the rooms clean and well-equipped, and at a very reasonable price. This was a great place to spend the night before and after doing the Abel Tasman...
