Te Pun Wai is one of those homes you can see peeping down at you from the hillside as you first drive into Nelson along the foreshore into town. Turning uphill, the driveway cuts off suddenly on the right hand side on a blind corner, so best to follow James’ advice to drive past and do a ‘U’ turn further... More

The inn is in an old mansion on a hill in a residential area on the outskirts of Nelson. It is a wonderful, eclectic place with great rooms, very comfy lounge, and magnificent views from every angle. We were in the third floor suite and couldn't ask for more from the room, bath or views. It is exactly an 8... More

Attention to detail is the signature of Te Puna Wai. Crisp white sheets, heated bathroom floors and fabulous water pressure in a delicious hot shower. The breakfast table is exquisite with fresh fruit, yogurts, breads from the local bakery and strong black coffee; a cooked breakfast for those who prefer. And did I mention the view - the best in... We recently spent 3 nights at this wonderful lodge. We stayed in the Haulashoe Apartment and were not disappointed. The view from the kitchen and porch was spectacular and we made the most of sitting outside. The apartment was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. James and Richard were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We will... More

What a wonderful stay we had for two days at this beautiful bed and breakfast. We were lucky enough to have the upstairs room. Beautifully decorated with a lovely collection of furnishings, books, music and collectables. The huge picture window was like a drive-in movie. You could just pull up a chair and watch the most exquisite view in Nelson... More

We were thrilled with our stay at Te Puna Wai! The house is beautifully restored and decorated, and there was always someone happy to help and answer questions. Although we had the one room without a view, there were lots of opportunities to spend time enjoying the gorgeous vistas from other areas of the house. Breakfast was delicious and served... More
