Karel was a great host and provided excellent information on things to do, restaurants, etc. We stayed for 4 nights in the deluxe suite, which was large and very comfortable. It was an easy 10 minute walk into town. Good breakfast menu, all cooked fresh. Would definitely recommend to our friends.

Very comfortable, clean and fairly large room with small bathtub, (I got in but couldn't get out), and a shower. Very welcoming hosts Karel and David provided good information on where to eat and things to see on our onward journey. Breakfast really nice, cooked from locally sourced produce.

Our hosts, Carol and David were wonderful people who shared their knowledge of Nelson, the surrounding area, & Abel Tasman Nat'l. Park to help us enjoy the area. Carol suggested Hopgoods for dinner & made our reservation. She also provided us with info about the Nelson Art Festival Parade. David told us about driving south to St. Arnaud to see... More

We stayed here for just one night. The room we had was at the front of the house overlooking the quiet street allowing a good nights sleep in a comfortable bed. The room was small and clean but didn't allow for easy relaxing other than using the bed or to view TV. There is a lounge area but we didn't... More

Our group of four adults had booked an overnight stay. My son and I arrived shortly after my daughter and her husband had experienced a rude and unwelcoming interaction with the host (David). Karel met me and quickly attempted to justify her husband's behaviour towards my daughter and her husband. A swift and unconditional apology from David for the unpleasant... More

My wife and I were having a great day until we came to check in at Cambria House. Even with a giant bird pooping on her. We were about 20 mins early for check-in, only to find the door locked (as she wanted to clean up the droppings from her hair). After knocking once, a kind Chinese gentleman (another guest)... More

We only spent one night at Cambria House, but it was a nice place to stay. The room was clean and well - appointed. Karel was a friendly hostess, breakfast was good and the location was very convenient in terms of proximity to Nelson and its attractions. (Walking distance to the downtown area, shopping and restaurants, the cathedral, Queens Garden,... More

We stayed at Cambria house for two nights at the very start of our two week tour of the South Island. We arrived late at night which would ordinarily be problematic at a guest house, however Karel and David were extremely accommodating. Not only were we warmly welcomed in the middle of the night, Karel also prepared breakfast (a delicious... More

I can only confirm the excellent reports others have given. We stayed two nights at Cambria House, situated in a quiet area. From the moment of our arrival Karel and David, a warm couple, took good care of us. We told her of our plans to go to Abel Tasman, and she got the tickets organised straightaway. The room was lovely,... More

Excellent, all we wanted. We were made very welcome, clean and comfy room with a really good breakfast. Interesting meeting other travellers at the breakfast table and sharing our experiences of New Zealand. A perfect base for our stay in Nelson, with perfect hosts.
