We just stayed for a night but really enjoyed the good vibes. It makes you feel like home. Good people, good breakfast! Bathrooms pretty didn’t try the showers. And our room was nice but cold luckily the receptionist helped us right away and brought a heater. Definitely would come back!!

We really enjoyed our stay in The Palace, best hostel in NZ so far thanks to the great staff and a wonderful place. The free breakfast was good. The location is perfect to visit the city and the area. Very clean. The atmosphere is very friendly.

Amazing old building with lots of original features — which, importantly, means THICK WALLS AND THICK DOORS for superior noise-dampening. Plus, they have a couple of decent guitars in the dining room! Splendid place.

This is a great hostel with a very central location, all the good stuff (supermarket, pubs and shops) are an easy walk away even after walking the Abel Tasmen track! The staff were helpful and friendly (especially Ruth at reception) Lovely garden which sort of spread around the whole hostel meaning it didnt feel like it was in the middle of the city. Will definetly stay again

Generally a cozy and cute space with kind staff. Sadly the beds were pretty rough, springs were poking through the thin mattress the whole night and the only blanket was a small duvet. No storage space for bags was a little frustration too, and shower water was randomly hot and cold with low pressure. Kitchen was pretty clean and free breakfast was the typical breads and cereals. Seemed like a nice place to stay for a longer period in Nelson with many potential friends to make, but generally a little rough for a nights sleep.
