Having returned for a second time to stay with Robbert and Victor, we enjoyed this visit even more than the first. Can only highly highly recommend Retiro as a great place to stay for an opportunity for peace, quiet, great chats with Robbert and Victor not to mention the breakfast!!!

This is an outstanding accommodation that comes highly recommended. The service is quite exceptional, and you'll also have a chance to meet the amazing owners that have built this retreat into something that's a real experience. The grounds are exceptional with long walks available on site taking in the alpacas, the vineyards, the hens, and that's just in the small... More

As you drive into Retiro Park Lodge, you know you've arrived at a special place. Experiencing the tranquil suroundings, hospitality, fantastic breakfasts, and the alpacas made it a memorable experience that we will never forget, and can fully recommend.

Excellent. A little out of Nelson in a lovely peaceful setting,a character house in beautiful garden setting.Host Robbert works tirelessly but is always there for a chat and laugh.Great breakfast in stand alone converted glasshouse is a treat.Great vision. Robbert could not be more helpful and was instrumental in us eating out at Victor's Cafe Max and that was another... More

We stayed for 4 nights at Retiro and loved every minute of it - it's a great location (very quiet, but only 15 min drive to Nelson, 1,5 h to Abel Tasman or Picton/Blenheim). The hosts are wonderful, very welcoming and helpful. We got a perfectly cooked breakfast which was different each morning ! This stay was really the highlight... More

We loved our stay here in this beautiful quiet haven away from the bustle of Nelson. Robert and Victor couldn't have looked after us better... We loved our arts/deco bedroom in the house opening on to the veranda, but spotted the other bedroom over the garage was equally nice but more contemporary. Both of us enjoyed watching the cats sort... More

Our two-night stay at Retiro Park Lodge was not nearly long enough to enjoy its many charms. Everything about it is beautiful, charming and welcoming. Robbert has managed to take what was once a very barren piece of land and turn it into a lush paradise and a plain and worn house and turn it into an architectural delight. No... More

The grounds, the room, the patio, the pool, the animals, the treehouse were all so captivating we couldnt tear our selves away! Robert is a wonderful, fun, gracious host, we loved talking with him. We had the patio room, loved sitting outside near the fireplace under the grapevines. The room is spacious with a sitting area, sink and fridge. The... More

The reviews made so far on tripadvisor aren't wrong. This was a lovely 2 night stay in Teal Valley. Robbert and Victor have a beautiful setting for the lodge, and those who like a steep brisk walk to see alpacas, miniature horses, donkeys , ducks, cats and other wildlife have the opportunity to do so without ever leaving the property.... An excellent B&B in a beautiful setting. We stayed for 3 nights in "the Barn" and absolutely loved it. The room was very spacious yet cozy and comfortable. Great attention to detail. The bathroom was clean; only negative was low water pressure in the shower. Breakfasts were phenomenal!! Robert was so gracious and welcomed and entertained us each and every... More
