Glenmac has 4000 acres and lots of sheep and cows. Kaye and Keith have been running a bed and breakfast on their farm for 30 years. We had the great pleasure of sitting at their kitchen table for a dinner and 2 breakfasts. Not only was the food good but the converstions with the other guests were fascinating. My husband... More

I had a wonderful three nights at Glenmac and found it a fantastic place to stay. I was in the Shearers Quarters, which are older, but still comfortable. Kay and the family were extremely welcoming and the meals were great - especially the dinners! This place is in an awesome location for easy daytrips - to Aoraki/Mt Cook; to Timaru... More

Staying at the Glenmac Farmstay was such a great experience. Kaye and all the family are so warm and welcoming. The setting is breathtaking and you could not wish for a more authentic south island experience. Kaye arranged for a day's horse trekking which has to be one of the best things I did in 2014. Not to be missed!

My partner and I first stayed as backpackers at Glenmac while we were working in the local vineyards. We loved it so much we made it our home for several months. We hiked in the hills and went mushroom hunting. Collected elderflowers on the property and made our own brew. Got to witness the shearing of the sheep in the... More

Our party of 5 biking the A2O arrived to stay in the backpackers with dinner, breakfast and lunch as an extra. The in-house rooms were already fully booked. The meals were substantial and enjoyable and the lunch very good. Kaye showed us round and my heart fell when I saw the backpacker accommodation we were in. The bones of the... More

As has already been explained personally to this group, the accommodation mentioned has been used for backpackers and long term stays for local orchard and vineyards. These seasonal workers , sadly, are not good at caring for other people's property hence have not put new bedding etc in for their use as is not appreciated. I usually put tea/coffee facilities... Staying at Glenmac Farm stay was the highlight of our trip to New Zealand's south island! Mostly everything was great and I loved it (I'm 10 and my brother is 8). As soon as we arrived, Kaye started to give us a tour of the farm. We first visited the sheep. Kaye has 2000 sheep, and 1,999 of them are... More

Eight of us on the Alps2Ocean bike ride stayed here or two nights. Kaye & Keith were very hospitable and allowed us to freely roam around the house and made to feel part of the family. The offer Dinner bed and breakfast for $70 and this is value for money. Food great, beds comfortable and the farm there for you... More

My husband read raving reviews regarding this farmstay and insists that he must experience it. When we arrived, there was nobody around at all, only 5 chained, barking dogs and 2 sheep. We decided to look around and when I took a peep at the room, I almost fainted. It did not look like a human abode, more like a... More

I realize time has gone by since this review was posted but still feel I need to reply. First of all these travellers were not booked in, obviously we were either not at home or out on the farm when they called in. We welcome people to call in but not to freely go into buildings unless invited. Maybe we... More

Glenmac Farm and her hosts Kaye and Keith offer a great place to stay for anyone looking for real people, a real farm and real life adventures. Our stay in Feb 2011 saw us in the main house, in a big bedroom with wide windows and lots of air all day and night, with a view over their fields with... More
