The Sunday choice was a really everage one. Last sunny days - crowdy and full restaurant. We ordered a sunday menus €/prs 13-16.-! The mushroom soup was to cold. Roasted veal with potatoes oversalted, mixed salad (only green with beans and tomato / poor). Turkey steak - Ok! Sweet at the end - apple strudel - STONE COLD!

I think they could do better 2,5 star not 3!

Located just north of Kamnik and the beginning of Kamniska Bistrica valley. Is a family operated hotel restaurant. The room (1) we got had a back balcony with mountains and meadows view, average size room and average size of bathroom with shower. Very good as a night or two nights stay. There is a sauna and hot tub available for guests but depends of the weather conditions specially the hot tub since located outside. The corridors, restaurant and common areas are decorated with hunting trophies.

We booked for the half-board; dinner was abbundant (so nice of Slovenia!) starting with a large bowl of soup (consomme celestine) and a large plate with sausages, meat, chicken, rice, potatoes, veggies all together. The same for breakfast, huge breakfast with fresh baked pastries, bread slices, yogurts, fruits, juices, coffee, tea, there is no way to leave hungry from a Slovenian table..

This inn served perfectly for us as base of our Kamniska Bistrica valley visit; hiking paths along the river (we had an encounter with a roe deer) and to visit Velika Planina the herdsmen village.

I was there on dinner with my girlfriend. It is restaurant decorated heads of dead deers and rabits, so it serves their meat but you can order anything. My girlfriend did not like their heads on the walls. But the food and service were fantastic. She ate trout and I took wild goat with "strukli" . For starter we took mushroom soup which was superb! For desert we ordered pancakes with nuts in wine sauce, wonderful!
I would recoment this resturant if you are in vincinity of Kamnik, Slovenia!

We had a birthday celebration here, about 30 people. We ordered mixed plates. The food was average at best and rather cold. They gave us heating plates for the meat, however not for the rest of the food. The staff was impolite and not welcoming.

We stayed there for 3 nights arriving on new years eve 2013. Our room was perfect. Clean, furnirshed to a high standard with a lots of wooden furniture, modern bathroom and balcony overlooking a field at the back of the house. There was also a pc with intertnet access, small fridge and tv.The room was very warm, despite the fact that we turned all the heaters off - there seemed to be some sort of heating in the walls. Price wise it was similar to rates in irish b&b's but you definitely get what you paid for.
We were the only one staying there as the pension was actually closed for the new year and it was very qiuet, which was great for us. We had halfboard with breakfast and dinner, with huge portions of food each time, which more then sustained us. Halfboard is €5 extra per person and the dinner includes soup, main meal with a salad and a dessert.
Stahovica is ideal location for hiking, with 3 trails starting 2 minutes from the pension and the cable car to Velika planina 5km away. And still only 25km away from the capital Ljubljana if you feel like going to the city.
The only thing is that the owner doesn't speak English, only german, but we managed to communicate somehow. The owners are living in the rooms on the top floor and sometimes there was a little bit of noice as people were moving about, but nothing major.

The food is good, everything we ate was very tasteful, tasted like homemade cooking. But service was terrible. It’s an old-fashioned place with tradition but they still haven’t learned how to treat a customer. First, when we walked in, staff reacted like we made their lifes miserable. They wouldn’t talk to us until we asked where we could seat. They said anywhere where the table is not full. Ok, we had to change tables 2 times because it turned out that those 2 tables were reserved without the reservation signs on them. They bring a wrong beer and start arguing that I surely ordered the one they brought. And when we asked if they could clean the table cause it was still covered with food from previous client, the waitress would argue that it’s not a big deal. Yes for food, No for service.

We had an excellent dinner at this restaurant yesterday.

First we had some (free) pickled vegetables which. Then we had several exotic cold cuts (dear, boar, wild goat) which were delicious. We shared several main dishes: a bear fillet, buckwheat with mushrooms, pieces of deep fried chicken, a vegetable plate and a salad.

Most of the dishes were superb. The vegetable plate was decent enough, but too many vegetables were deep fried.

The wine was good and the price was reasonable. The waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly if very busy.

Great typical Slovene food at typical Slovene landscape in the Alpes' valley. If you like countreysife and untouched nature, Kamniška bistrica is a must see spot in Slovenia. And on the way back don't miss this place to dine in.
