I have rated this motel as 5 because of the value for money it offers and the standard of facility provided for the cost paid. The room (11 - an upper room) was a good size, very clean and had an excellent, powerful shower. The views from the upper floor of the mountains are beautiful. It is a bit further away from town but this wasn't an issue for us. You receive 300ml complimentary milk ok check in. There is a cafetiere provided, we brought our own coffee not sure if there was anything provided. The noise from the road did not disturb us, and we couldn't hear any noise coming from other rooms. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

While our upstairs room was clean and spacious, this is a noisy location with big trucks rattling past day and night. Parking is free and on-site and it is a short walk to the main street. There are quieter locations in Kaikoura and we would not stay here again.

Bella Vista Motel is really good value for money. It is conveniently located within easy walking distance of Kaikoura restaurants and shops. It is also just fifteen minutes' walk from the Kaikoura Kayaks tours company. The motel room is relatively small but is functional and spotlessly clean. It has enough kitchen equipment, including a medium-sized fridge, for preparing a basic meal or breakfast. The shower is great. The motel owners are really friendly, and their cats love to be petted.
The one downside is that the motel is located on State Route 1, the main road in the region. Large trucks rumble along the road all day long and through much of the night. But, if you use ear plugs for sleeping these will not be an issue.
Bella Vista Motel might not be on the Kaikoura shoreline but why pay that premium when you can stay at Bella Vista and use the savings to spend on things like excellent restaurants and adventurous kayak tours.

The room was spacious and clean, the kitchen was fully equipped. Overall, the unit was comfortable. The place was a bit far from the town centre, but manageable. The only downside was that there were 4 of us adults who stayed in one room, but the bathroom had no key (not really a big deal).
Will definitely stay here again!

Like all Bella Vista motels, you know what you will get, even more arriving. However, a warm friendly welcome helps enormously. I stayed here twice over the last couple of weeks and have been very happy with the motel on both occasions.
The owners are very friendly and helpful and ensure the room has been prepared to a very high standard. As you would expect, the rooms are comfortable and quiet, ensuring a good nights sleep.

Stayed here for a night on a South Island tour. The rooms are clean and well-maintained. Staff are friendly and helpful. The motel is on the main road and close enough walking distance to all the amenities of Kaikoura.

We stayed two nights and have nothing at all to complain about. Staff very friendly and helpful. Yes agree some things in the unit getting a little tired but same happens at home. Unit very clean and comfy. Bed excellent. We were able to store our bikes in the garage as unit would have been too tight. Good distance from the town centre. We had no problem with noise.

This accommodation formed part of a months tour of South Island and was by far the most disappointing. The hotel is situated next to main road which has large lorries using it through the night. The accommodation itself is basic but adequate. Unlike everywhere else in New Zealand, the owners were not particularly friendly or welcoming. Kaikora itself has stunning scenery and I think we could have found accommodation to match, which was shame.

Good price for one night. Friendly lady at reception. Fantastic shower pressure and nice and hot. Easy but steep walk to town for dinner. Lots of carparks. Appreciated the table outside our room so we could sit outside in the sun. Lovely view of the mountains. The bed in room three was so soft it was like a waterbed when someone moved, it was TERRIBLE & I like a soft bed normally!

This was our 10th and last BV of our tour. We arrived here a little early and asked if our room was ready. Early check-in was possible at an additional cost. Ok, business attitude is understandable. But we didn't think the extra costs were necessary. So we continued to visit sites in the region and checked in later in the day.
