Wish we could have stayed longer. What a lovely setting and friendly owners this place has. It was a perfect spot for us to spend Christmas day. The owners offered to find us a spot for Christmas dinner but instead we chose to wander into town and found a pizza spot that was open. It's a great motel a little... More

We stayed in the anchor inn for 1 night while we were in Kaikoura. Its a really pretty and really comfortable spot. The room was clean and the kitchen well equipped. They had a good selection of DVDs at reception and the couple who owned and managed the place were great. Bathroom was on the small side compared to the... More

We enjoyed our stay at the anchor inn hotel. The room was very clean and spacious. Great location, very quiet place. The owners are very nice couple, they even helped us cook the crayfishs we got. We really appreciate that. We would definitely recommend this motel if you ever stay at Kaikoura.

We have stayed here before 13 years ago when we had a sea facing room and really explored the area around Kaikoura. This time we just wanted a bed for our first night after arriving from the UK in the morning. We chose a side room because it was cheaper, and in some ways it was better. It was not... More

Stunning views; turquoise water. Great view from room. Friendly staff. Large, well equipped room - including microwave, pots and pans, decent knives etc. Very clean and well maintained. Great location. Walk to pier restaurant; good food. Lovely walks on peninsula with excellent views. About 10 mins walk into town. Quiet locale. Great!

I stayed here one night and even when booking on the phone I was advised on what I could see and do in kiakoura, when I got to the hotel the owner showed me inside my room and told me what the best restaurants were. The view was the best I've had from a hotel ever!!!

Definitely the best stay of our 17 days in South Island. - The hosts are exceptionally kind and warm. She really made us feel at home, giving us advice on where to dine and visit. She even offered me a towel for our dolphine swim the following day. And, kindly lent me a sewing kit to mend my son's torn... More

This is a good quality motel facing the sea with very friendly & helpful managers & spacious, comfortable rooms. The location is a bit of a trek from the town if on foot but its worth it for the views. We were recommended some restaurants in easy walking distance which were superb. We would definitely stay here again.

Difficult to make a choice in this hotel-rich small touristic station. We chose the Anchor Inn somewhat randomly but it turned out to be a rather good place. Good welcome from a very helpful manager,. The location is a bit off center along the coast but this is not really a problem given the size of the village. The rooms... More

We stayed at this motel for 1 night following a drive from Picton, before heading to Hanmer Springs. Arriving at the motel we could not help but admire the view from our room, the snow capped mountains meeting the ocean. The room was spacious, the bed big and comfy. There was a guest laundry available. The managers were extremely welcoming... More
