Rooms are spacious and with many common areas in outdoor and indoor for chitchat. Price is reasonable but the noise is horrible. I can't really sleep tight Cox easily hear people close their doors throughout the night. Facilities are a bit old but in general it's a fair deal.

We stayed one night in the Dusky Lodge in a deluxe en suite room and i would highly recommend! After looking for accommodation in Kaikoura this stood out as one of the most affordable and it turned out to be great. Our rooms were located upstairs, near the kitchen facilities and were very clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable...

Overall this is a clean and spacious hostel. The communal areas are quiet and relaxing with a very nice outdoor deck. There is also lots of printed information available. The bunk in our room unfortunately had a very thin foam mattress which wasn't comfortable to sleep on. We didn't stay in an ensuite and the shared bathroom wasn't too good...

This backpackers is a good value for you money. We staying in a double ensuite. It was very quite while we were there. It doesn't have free wifi which is a bummer. It's a short walk to the main strip of Kaikoura, about 5-10 minutes. We were there in the winter but it's probably quite busy in the summer!

We stayed two nights here in a private room. The room and ensuite bathroom were clean. The bed was pretty soft, but we slept well! Wifi was good. The pool and hot tub were great. We found the upstairs kitchen cleaner and better stocked than the kitchen on the main floor.

Stayed 2 nights in twin ensuite which good size & situated upstairs in more private area with kitchen & lounge facilities. Freezing cold on arrival but soon warmed up & we were early arrivals. Good location, just 5 mins walk from main town & supermarket. Good size pool for summer guests & all year round hot tub / sauna which...

We stayed at the Dusky Lodge this weekend, it was wonderful. It was cold outside, but nice and cosy inside with the fireplaces everywhere. We chilled in the hot tub for ages, and the view from the back deck is so nice. The rooms were very good, nice beds and great facilities for what you pay!

I stayed here a month ago and found it to be a well-maintained hostel with friendly staff. I would definitely stay here again if I was in Kaikoura. The kitchens are well-stocked and the pool was a nice bonus.
