What a brilliant place! We only spent a night here (in Tui, a double-room with en suite and kitchenette) but wished we could have stayed longer. On our NZ trip we've paid a lot more (mainly on AirBnB) for a lot less room than this. It's a great location and Kerry is a wonderful host, welcoming guests like they are...

We just loved our two night stay at this fabbie, friendly birdy themed hostel..from the moment we met Neil the super lovely owner we knew we had hit on a gem of a place! It's soo homely and our room was great, bed really comfy and kitchen was fabbie..had everything you needed, was spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped. The...

This place was the perfect place to rest after a long and demanding trek! Lovely staff made us feel welcome and at home, going out of their way to make sure we had a nice and relaxing stay. Also there's a glow worm cave 5 minutes down the road, check it out!

Stayed for two nights with our two year old daughter and we loved the place! Don't even know where to start. Shared facilities are very nice and tidy. Plenty of room in the kitchen to do your cookings and fully equipped. Such a good idea that every room has their own shelf for food. And also plenty of room in...

We stayed in the ensuite room which was clean and nice. Kerry was an excellent host who gave us plenty of local information which was wonderful. The sea view from the kitchen was wonderful and garden view from the room was lovely! Will be back definitely!

The ground floor ensuite Tui room was a fabulous haven with an (unexpected) full kitchen, breakfast bar dinning area and couch. We also had a private covered patio where we could lock our bikes although there is a bike shed too. Great value for money. The host was extremely friendly and helpful and the decor of the hostel was colourful...

How to describe the birdsong backpackers - it's like stepping back in time to staying over at an old surf shack but with everything that you need to make this a relaxing stopover. Awesome view from the main common area, perfect for having a cold beer and playing a board game or 2 with the kids. Loved the fact they...

Not our usual sort of place to stay but after failing to book, backpackers was the only choice. Our upstairs room was fine, facing the main highway but didn't notice the traffic. Even had our own balcony! Didn't like to share the bathroom but even though the place was full there was no pressure on it. Communal kitchen/dining room was...

This is a marvel of a hostel. I am usually not into budget stays like this, but my daughter booked it for us. We had one of the private rooms with an amazing view on the ocean. There are two bathrooms and showers in the hostel, which are very clean and functional. Kitchen is well stocked for preparing meals, and...

This hostel is right across the road from the beach and has great bird themed rooms. Very friendly owners who are extremely helpful. Great bathrooms and superb kitchen/lounge area. Very well equipped. The bushmans bath outside is a must do experience. A couple kilometers from the main CBD but doesnt really matter. Glowworm dell is a short walk away too....
