Rooms and view were great. We only spent on night here, but I'm glad we did. Nothing out of the ordinary to report. There was no cooked breakfast (just yogurt and continental items), which was a little disappointing when compared to our other experiences.

We stayed at Kapitea Lodge for one night on our way down the west side of the South Island. Pete, the owner, was charming and made us feel quite welcome. Our room was small but very comfortable with a small porch with gorgeous view of the immaculate gardens and the ocean beyond. We enjoyed wine and cheeses with the other...

We attend at this lovely lodge for one night on our way southwards. The building is set on a hill with beautiful gardens. We were welcomed by Pete the owner and shown to the Montagu room (a premier sea view room), a large double room with balcony overlooking the garden and sea. The room was beautifully decorated and had a...

Whilst just outside the town limits the access road to Kapitea makes it easy to find. Hokitika is a good 10 minutes from the Lodge by car. Peter provides a cheerful welcome and the rooms are smart, clean and well equipped. Views from the terrace are magnificent and the gardens are well stocked and perfect for a evening stroll. If...

My husband and I stayed here during our West Coast Wilderness Trail bike ride. It was slightly off the trail, but worth the extra few KMs to stay here. We were lucky to have a blue sky day, and the view was wonderful out to the sea. The spa pool was very welcome after our day of biking, and the...

We were there for one night during some pretty dire weather and the house was full so we were alongside 4 other couples. The gentlemen who looked after us were excellent, very friendly and the way they delivered the service was not too intrusive. If you have dinner when you are there, you share the table with the other guests,...

We stayed at Kapitea Lodge with friends for one night on our drive down the West Coast. It's a gorgeous place with only a handful of rooms. Everything is immaculately clean and the rooms are lovely with comfortable beds. The rooms on the first floor with views over the flower garden and the beach are particularly nice. The owner, Pete,...
