If you are looking for a well presented, comfortable accommodation situated in an awesome spot right by the beach, then this is your shining star. The guest services were simply amazing, so informative, telling us the local eating spots like Fat Pipi Pizza and the Glow Worm Grotto situated just down the road Highly recommend this accommodation
Although I'd made a date error when booking we were fortunately able to be accommodated in a cabin near the beach. The cabin had a separate bedroom and dining room so very spacious with sliding doors to an outside seating/dining area in sight of the ocean. Comfortable bed and spacious bathroom were very welcome. Very restful place to stay and I'd definitely return.
Excellent spot surprising,y close to see…don’t be deceived by e trance the camp and cabins are behind it. Lovely setting, good facilities and great staff. Recommended. There’s animals on site for kids, and beach next door. Blah blah blah 200 words
A very comfortable cabin near the breaking waves of the Tasman sea, so peaceful and natural. The facilities were everything we needed to just relax and enjoy the serenity and the bird life. A very comfortable mattress, and a great shower. The highlight for us was the friendly service provided by the staff, and the welcome we received from owners, Ben and Saskia. (What a lovely couple) We highly recommend and will return as Hokitika means a “place of return”
Stayed one night on a drive down the west coast and unfortunately not much to recommend this place. The entrance, reception and receptionist were the highlight and it was all downhill from there! Admittedly it was a very grey west coast day but it just felt really depressing. We had a powered site for our van, reasonable value but too far to walk into town. The grounds need a lot of maintenance, very overgrown and lots of weeds. The toilets were clean but only 1 shower and no mat so the tiles were very slippery. The little zoo is 2 alpacas and a sad looking goat and they look even more depressed than we were. Location is by the main state highway and rail line so pretty noisy at night. Luckily we had an early start so just got up and went. Sorry not much to recommend this place.
Spent a night in our campervan. The setting is lovely, just a short walk from the beach which was great. Each space is quite private and you feel like you are in a forest/park. Also visited the Glow Worm Dell across the road, well worth the effort to go for a walk. If booking whilst in level 2 please note that they have closed the toilets, showers and toilets until level 1 which is OK if you are self contained, not so much if you aren't.
We booked and stayed in a beach front chalet. Very tired and in much need of an update and a good clean. The bathroom smelled like a public toilet and the furniture is very well worn as is the carpet. Great location but really not worth the money.
Sitting almost on the beach, the cabins are clean and recently renovated. Loved all the amenities for kids & adults and enjoyed giving the horses, pigs and llamas a pat. There was hardly any noise, 20 meters from the beach, beautiful sunset, we loved it and definitely recommend it.
Cabins were well catered with furniture and accessories. Perhaps having 3 people in a cabin was a little too much. It would have been perfect for 2 people. we used the kitchen area as a social area for our large group.
We stayed as a couple in a Spa Beachfront Chalet. Location on the edge of town makes for a quiet stay, and the sound of the surf in the background provides comforting "white noise". It is a short walk past a horse paddock to get to the sandy beach. The unit was a bit in need of refurbishment and only one of the two gas burners on the cooker was working properly. The fairly steep stairs to the bedroom on the mezzanine level could be difficult for some, especially since the only toilet is in the bathroom downstairs. Check-in was seamless and check-out the same. Overall impression - nice to be by the sea, but a bit overpriced at $195.00 per night.
