Exterior of the hotel does not inspire but once you walk inside the hotel is lovely. Good sized room and comfy bed. Lovely restaurant with excellent range of options and beautiful decor. Staff were very attentive.
Doesn't look much from the outside, but don't let that fool you, lovely comfortable rooms, nice helpful staff and a great breakfast. We came over on the Tranz-alpine, and the hotel is a stones through from the railway station. Was cold and windy in Greymouth but the hotel and room was lovely and warm.
I stayed on a stormy Saturday night in July. The hotel is in a great location, excellent and handy (free) parking, the rooms have recently been upgraded and are 4 star plus, the staff are very friendly and look after you very well. The rooms are warm (the windows provide some character) and beds are super comfortable, the shower pressure is great! I had a meal in the restaurant which was good, I would like to see Seafood Chowder on the menu, being so close to the sea and river, I was expecting that. All in all a great place to stay.
This is a lovely hotel! Quality service and atmosphere. Sam was lovely when checking in was there for anything we needed, Excellent service from her. Sonia was great when organising dinner! Great place!
Stayed three nights at the Copthorne in a very comfortable and clean 6th floor room. Spacious, and a view of town and the river. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We didn't sample the dining room, so can't help out here, but the hotel is well located in relation to restaurants and cafes nearby.
I live locally just about 30 minutes away and was having a stressful week so decided to stay over the weekend for a little staycation, the reception staff was amazing and very friendly. I also had small chat to one of the housekeeping staff as well when I was leaving and they had been just as friendly. The staff there had great service and always had a smile. I didn't dine in at the restaurant but did get room service and the food is incredible, almost licked my plate clean. Felt totally refreshed after my stay and I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful couple of days away.
Beautiful warm clean rooms, nice view over the river, excellent delicious Breakfast, super friendly helpful staff. Let us stay longer in restaurant as weather was nasty out Highly recommend this as your stay when you come to Greymouth
West Coast hospitality - just great! Stayed here just one night after doing the TranzAlpine from Christchurch and couldn’t fault it, from phoning to make the booking (lots of advice and laughs with Sindi) to our final late checkout. The room was more than adequate - twin queen sized beds and very comfortable - and our package included a bottle of bubbles and some delicious Whittakers chocolates, very much appreciated. The highlight of the stay was dinner in the restaurant - superb food, and so much of it - and our young server Paytin who was just so super friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for her and all done with a smile. Same smiles and chat again at breakfast the next morning - this girl is a treasure! The hotel is what it is, three star, gradually being modernised, but for friendliness and genuine hospitality you couldn’t go wrong staying here. Just a short walk from the train station too.…
Stayed in quite a few places in Greymouth and won't be staying here again. although the bed and room were comfortable, I didn't get a good night's sleep at all. The wind was howling on floor 6 and wind coming through the doors and windows. This place needs some serious investment in windows and doors. The internet wasn't working the first night I got here.
Very basic small room. No book to the room for menu or local attractions. Charged an extra $200 when checking in ontop of room for $50 pernight fee for kids incase they break something. This was not stated on website, they said it will be refunded at the end. Not a happy experience 😕
