Everything perfect and in its place. The grand old villa was warm and comfortable. Large comfortable beds and lovey breakfast. Hospitality was really friendly and everything was lovely. Thanks for looking after us.
Me and my wife spent two nights at Chelsea House as part of our honeymoon trip to New Zealand. Jennie and Tony were great hosts and made sure we enjoy our time at Whangarei. Jennie went out of her way several times for us. She drove us around the area, gave us a lot of useful recommendations on things to do not only in Whangarei but also New Zealand since she used to work in the tourism industry, and voluntarily got us a booking at one of the best restaurants in town! The breakfast that Jennie cooks is great and I would recommend anyone who is going to visit Chelsea House to try Jennie cakes they are so lovely. It truly felt that we were in a home away from home.
We booked two rooms for a one night stay for my elderly parents and myself for a visit to the Hundertwasser Art Centre and had such a wonderful time that we wished we had booked the extra night. Our host made us feel completely at home, with every amenity you could wish for and more! We had our own lounge to sit in and on arrival after the drive up from Auckland, were served with a cup of tea by Jennie and some delicious homemade cake. There was a fully set up refreshments bar area which we could help ourselves from at any time of the night or day for cups of tea (including all herbal varieties) and selections of different coffees and chilled water. Breakfast was superb with an amazing freshly cut fruit salad, great coffee and a selection of homemade preserves and ham and cheese filled croissants and toast. Our beds were wonderfully comfortable and bathrooms were spotlessly clean with our host taking all health precautions. We were the only guests, occupying both guest rooms, so the lounge was for our sole use. Truly "home away from home". I particularly enjoyed the bush walk through the Kauri Forest accessed via the road opposite Chelsea House. The track leads down a river into the town centre with raised board walk over mangroves, really fantastic and the perfect start to my day before breakfast the next morning. Jennie has all the information on how to find the track and if you have time there are many other wonderful hikes in the area.…
Choosing to stay at Chelsea House was brilliant. We had come for an overnight getaway, mainly to see the new Hundertwasser Art Centre, enjoy a dinner out, and a driving tour of the area. Jennie and Tony greeted us on our arrival, and gave us a tour of their B&B. The house has an interesting history, but it has also been remodeled to make it a wonderful B&B site. Our room was spacious, and it had access to the veranda. In the hall was a refreshment center with coffee/tea, biscuits, and a microwave and refrigerator for our use. We had the use of a communal tv lounge, as well. Everything was very well appointed and supplied. Our hosts were glad to offer suggestions for our dinner restaurant, and we had a lovely meal. We were welcomed back that evening with biscuits and banana date bread. We gathered our goodies and retired to the veranda to read. The next morning Jennie greeted us with croissants, granola, fresh fruit, yoghurt, juices, butter curls and locally made preserves. She also offered to put the croissants together as sandwiches if we wished, but having them with breakfast was fantastic. This is a very special B&B, and the hosts are so gracious & welcoming. The bed was firm & very comfortable. They bent over backward to make our stay special. We highly recommend a stay at Chelsea House.…
2 night stay on our way to Bay of Islands. First time using a B and B as we normally book motels. Was very impressed with the standard of accommodation, the breakfasts and the friendliness of the hosts Jennie and Tony. Couldn't have asked for anything better, and we will certainly be booking B and B again based on this experience.
Chelsea House offers the perfect combination of comfort and hospitality. Jennie is the perfect host and nothing is too much trouble. The bed was super comfy and the room was spacious and well appointed. The breakfast was a winner and I particularly enjoyed the fruit salad. If you are looking for a centrally located bed and breakfast in a tranquil home then you have found it.
Loved my stay at Chelsea House, it really did turn my work trip into feeling like a holiday. Comfortable good size room with super bed and a great range of amenities. Enjoyed my breakfast and the knid hospitality on offer from hosts Jennie and Tony. Highly recommend Chelsea House and look forward to returning to this special historic place.
Chelsea House is a gorgeous old home, beautifully renovated and super clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and the hosts very welcoming and obliging. They went out of their way to be helpful and provided great local knowledge on places to eat and the region. A wonderful stay!
Chose to stay at Chelsea House because of its proximity to an event we were attending in Whangarei. What a great find! Jennie & Tony are hosts extraordinaire - lovely people and a warm, welcoming home . Jennie went above and beyond to ensure we were well looked after. Best breakfast we've encountered in our bnb travels. Lovely comfortable well equipped rooms. Would definitely return
Had a night here on the way up north and thoroughly enjoyed it. Jennie and Tony are very welcoming and go out of their way to make you comfortable and feel at home. Would certainly recommend to others and would stay again if passing through or needing Whangarei accomodation
