Detailed Reviews
Great location but the camp is in bad need of a makeover. We had a family holiday & were there with a caravan & rented 2 x tourist flats as well. The facilities were basically ok but old & run down, apart from the playground which was brand new & fantastic. The tourist flats were both dirty & in bad need of a proper clean. Cockroaches, badly stained mattresses & 1 of the units had a shower that barely worked at all. The office was only staffed when it suited the Managers so hard to get hold of anybody. If the management & staff put some effort into doing a decent job of cleaning the rooms & facilities this would be a much much better review. If this Park is owned by the PNCC then they need to seriously invest in this holiday park so that visitors to PN want to return - as it is now, we definitely won’t be.☹️

I am another who came across the rudeness by the bloke. He had a go at me and another camper who drove on the grass. There wasn't sufficient room to back their caravan into the park so used the grass to assist. Rude bloke straight over and had a go at them. We found the location to be really noisy and presume this is rare and most other reviews say it is quite. Our noise was vehicle noise from the surrounding roads not from the park itself. Wouldn't stay again due to the rude staff.

Tidy clean campground with showers/ toilet and kitchen in good condition. Play area for kids and right by aquatic centre, train for kids and bird sanctuary. Great paved spot to park caravan. Friendly managers. My concern was that both nights were noisy up to at least midnight/1 am. We had 3 young children and a lot of irresponsible teenagers and parents out bouncing balls, laughing, yelling and generally being thoughtless. I tried to phone the camp on the second night and no answer! Their rules state quietness from 9.30 to respect other campers. I would expect New Year’s Eve to be noisy but very disappointed that these managers would not control this. They live onsite and chose to turn a blind eye very disappointing in the end. Another concern was by 9.30 am they decided to mow lawns and drove so close to out caravan, awning and vehicle. A branch flicked up and hit the 7 year old on the leg. And he was in the awning! Could they not wait until you had vacated the site to mow lawns? Not after our first nights stay! Great location. Just a few issues with management

As a family of 12 with children from 10mths to 15 we booked 2 cabins and a tent site so we could all be together for Xmas. We were very disappointed on arrival, office staff were very rude and the state of the cabins - damp smell on entering, cobwebs, spiders and lots of cockroaches! Especially in the shower as one of us was showering had one crawling up their leg! We asked on multiple occasions for clean tea towels for both cabins but would only get given one if you go out and find the cleaners yourselves. We had go out and buy toilet paper, bin bags, cleaning supplies and bug spray as these were either not provided at all or bare minimum provided (1 toilet roll is not enough for a family of 5 in 1 cabin!). Adults were told off for playing in the playground with their young children, especially as we saw a father go down the slide with a young child only to be yelled at and a cone to be put on the slide so you cannot access it. Had some English friends travelling through palmy who wanted to stop over for the night to surprise us but we're told there was no empty cabins and tent sites. However there was multiple empty cabins and tent sites. Unfortunately will now have to find other accommodation next Xmas as we definitely won't be back.

Stayed for Volleyball nationals. Walked into the room and the disgusting sewage, musty smell (had to buy air freshener). The beds were creaky and had stains all over them. Cobwebs everywhere, cockroaches everywhere. Staff never replaced toilet paper or came to check up on our rooms if we needed anything. Floor had stains all through it. The kitchen floor was greasy, the oven handles were also greasy. The drawers and cupboard shelves were disgusting and had brown grime all over them. Defo don’t stay here. Worst accomodation ever.

Our family required last minute accommodation and needed enough space to house 2 families with children and booked the Group Unit - Cabin 30.
After booking our cabin I started to read the reviews and consider changing but THANKFULLY I didn’t. I expected to walk into a dump site but upon arrival found a home away from home that was clean, spacious, had plenty of kitchen utensils for a family of 8, space for the kids to run around right in front of the cabin and 2 toliets
We also got the chance to interact with Ron and Jan (property managers) and they were both lovely.
We loved our 3 day stay so much we’re talking about coming back for an extended family reunion and I’m sure they’ll be a debate on who will get cabin 30
There is also Lido Pools, Victoria Esplanade Park within walking distance (one of the best parks I’ve been to in NZ) and a walk way down along the River

Arrived at dusk with elderly mother and two young children and couldn’t believe the abuse and rude treatment we received by a man at the gate and the rude office staff. I was parked in front of the barrier arm in a 6 berth motor home with a Ute right behind me so I was unable to park. A man approached me aggressively saying I was stupid and should know better and not park there! If it wasn’t for it being nearly dark and needing to feed young children we would have turned around and paid whatever it cost to get a motel instead. Please read all the other terrible reviews on this place (wish we had!) before booking here!

We really enjoyed our one night stay in our wee tent. The facilities were good and very clean. We left a sponge bag behind and nearly a month later it was located and couriered to us. Thanks Steve & Jo - you're amazing!

My partner has been staying here recently and the one thing I can say is the couple who took over ownership are absolutely amazing. They have made not only my partner feel welcome, but also myself and my daughter feel very welcome while visiting as well. They have most definitely made the holiday park 100x better than what it was a month ago. Highly recommend

Booked to stay here for 2 nights in a tourist flat and the unit we stayed in was poor. Many stains on the floor and the vinyl flooring was all sticky.
Every piece of furniture was severely stained and looked unhealthy and was past its use by date.
Mattresses were stained and the whole place stank of dampness and was dirty.
Only stayed the one night and went to a motel instead which should of done in the first place.
