Drove from Perth, travelling time about 3-3.5h. Only 8 cottages available at Bussells Bushland Cottages; and although they are closely scattered within the bushland, the cottage (can speak only of ours) is clean, airy and provide lots of natural light. It offers sufficient space for a family of 5 (we had the family cottage > 1st room with queen bed... More

In summer, guests should open windows and the main door around 4.30pm - when the sun goes down behind the trees and the temperature drops. Then, at night, they should leave the windows open to allow the evening breezes in to cool things down. I know it's hard for some to imagine, however we don't have security issues here. Noises... Bussells was a great place to stay for families. We stayed for 3 nights which was the minimum stay over the xmas period. A complimentary bottle of Redgate wine was provided - due to length of stay. The property was very clean and provided all kitchen equipment necessary to prepare meals. Also had a bbq. Kids enjoyed watching the local... More

Thank you for your kind comments...it's very pleasing to see that we continue to tick the boxes. In the 14 years we've owned the property, we've made significant improvements and will continue to do so as cash flow permits. Some of these improvements, including the way we treat waste water, won't be seen, whilst returning guests know that we resolved... More

Stayed in these cottages after xmas with friends from uk. Brilliant place! Well located, very clean and tidy and well stocked with kitchen essentials. The breakfast pack provided is a lovely touch, as well as tea and coffee essentials after long tiring drive! Kids loved the walks and trails around the cottages, as well as the animals who visited us... More

Thank you for bringing your friends to share our bush block and for your very kind comments. When we purchased the property in 2001, we firmly believed that it would appeal (greatly) to international guests, as well as to the many locals who visited year after year. Our natural bush setting, delightful bird life and resident kangaroos all go towards... More

We had a fabulous stay here at Bussells cottages. The cottages are clean, well maintained and in a beautiful setting. Our kids loved going on kangaroo watches every morning and evening....they saw lots and lots of them! There are some lovely walks around the grounds also. It is only a 10 minute drive into Margaret River for shops and restaurants.... More

It's great to see that we and our resident kangaroos are satisfying our international guests. We have the objective of showing ongoing improvements to our many returning guests, however we know that it's the tranquil (natural) setting which most appeals. More

Extremely tidy place, set back in some scrub bushland...there are only 7-8 cottages in all and they are sited so its hard to see the other cottages Very clean, good shower/bath facilities, functional kitchen with all the utensils and equipment you could want. Outside there is a bbq. The kids loved the place with all the different trees and birds... More

We're delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay. Our bush setting and the easy proximity to many of Australia's animals sets us apart from any other accommodation in the region. We're not resting on our laurels however and are constantly upgrading plant & equipment. Thanks for visiting us and please tell your friends about us. More

Stayed here Oct 2015 for 3 nights . Very rustic cottages with open fire places and all you need for a relaxing stay . even comes with kangaroos etc . Close to town and beaches but you feel you are miles away from everyone . Highly recommended and nothing is too much trouble for the Manager .

Yes...we do seem to have the largest mobs of kangaroos in the region, which is a blessing. We've also got possums, brush-tailed phascogales, bandicoots and a wide variety of bird life, including kookaburras, splendid fairy wrens, parrots and honey-eaters. Our rammed-earth cottages and wonderful bush provide a true Australian experience. More

Bussells Bushland Cottages are an absolute delight. There are 8 extremely well equipped self contained cottages set in amongst the bush where you're almost guaranteed to see kangaroos if you walk around. Our cottage (No 7) had 2 bedrooms set up for a family - our room had a double bed and the other had 2 single beds. This room... More

Oh, those bothersome kookaburras. Thank you for your comprehensive critique of our property and for your high praise. We try to provide a quality experience where you can commune with nature in a tranquil environment. Seems like we're achieving our goals. Don't forget to spread the word. More

Would highly recommend Bussells Bushland Cottages, among the trees, this place is peaceful, relaxing. You can go for short bush walks, kids loved it. There are kangaroos who come near but not too close. I was sitting out on the veranda on Saturday morning with my cuppa the sun was shining and there were kangroos just sunning themselves. It's pleasing to hear of families visiting from Mandaurah and we hope to see many more in the future. Ours is a totally natural experience and the children can gain so much from spending a few days exploring the bush. Thank you for your recommendation and we hope you can return in the not too distant future. More

Firstly, facilities were great! Everything we needed was provided, and the place was spotlessly clean, with comfortable bedding. Interior was very spacious, no problem fitting in at least 4 huge luggage open up. Lots of privacy too between cottages and yet not too far apart to feel alone in the woods. We stayed in Cottage 7, there is a nice... More

It's great that we could provide you with a true Australian bush experience. Our property is 20 hectares (50 acres) and home to mobs of kangaroos, particularly from dusk to dawn. You shouldn't be concerned to walk the trails at night as you really can't get lost. Anyway, there's more for you to experience when you return. More

My family and I stayed at Cottage 7 for 3 nights in Nov 2015. We were lucky to be greeted by kangeroos and possums upon arrival. Peaceful walking trails around the cottage offered close experience with native trees, kangeroos and birds in Western Australia, which were easy to identify with the helpful picture guides provided. Many thanks. There's a great disconnect between many city folk and the natural world and we've always felt that we can offer a bridge from one to another. Just 100 metres from our comfortable accommodation and you stroll into dense Australian forest of marri, jarrah, peppermint and banksia. We look forward to having you return. More
