Fitzroy street St Kilda is a bit down at heel, in need of a make over, as is this hotel. Positive points are friendly staff, comfy bed and free wifi. Negatives - a few - like only one chair in a suite, which is unfriendly after a few minutes; slow cramped lifts; narrow corridors; frugal water volume in shower; tired...

Great position on Fitzroy St with plenty of food options in and around the hotel. Trams outside 10 mins to Melbourne and walking distance to great beach and miles of promenade 5 mins. The hotel was very good, we stayed 12 nights as we were visiting relatives. The staff exceptionally helpful.

This is not a large Hotel, reception, dining area small. The two different types of rooms that I have stayed in were an ok size. Bathrooms ok and clean. If you want a more flash or resort style Hotel, then this is not for you. On the plus side, it is convenient to a tram stop and there are enough...

Average hotel with large room and bathroom and good wifi but very noisy at night with clubs and bars next door open until early morning hours. We had to change rooms after the first night. For a quieter night ask for a room at the left back. Location is grungy but there is a tram stop out front for a...

Got a really good deal for this hotel and it's in a good position. Surrounded by bars, cafes and restaurants. I think you need to be aware or at least have an open mind that the area does have a young vibe and some homeless people. However, in saying that the vibe out on street in the evening never felt...

Hello Yo Thanks for staying with us and for sharing your review. Great to hear you enjoyed our location in the heart of St Kilda and you took advantage of our Go Green housekeeping initiative. I apologise for the WiFi problems which were caused by a local Telstra outage, but it's good to hear this did not inconvenience you too...

Good location - promotion with Sea bath. The only sea water heated pool with spa in Victoria. Hotel is good with strong wifi no password issue. Interesting lift and good location for food, walk to St Kilda Pier and sea bath and those pubs and restaurants shops down St Kilda Recommend this to all - worth it

Hello Amias Thanks for your feedback, I'm sorry if the noise from the lifts inconvenienced you, we do have some family rooms further away from the lifts so be sure to request one of these if you stay with us again. I'm disappointed to hear about your dining experience in Second Act, we are about to review our menu so...

Very helpful staff who try there best. Rydges group should be ashamed of themselves. Awful hotel in a run down area. Do not stay here if you have an alternative. Should be rated 2 to 3 stars at the most. The hotel needs a severe upgrading. The area near to it is full of seedy or closed down shops. Once...

Management response:

Dear Steve I am sorry to hear you were not happy with your stay, the majority of our guests leave with a much better impression of the hotel so I am disappointed that your experience was so markedly different. Whilst Fitzroy St is in the centre of St Kilda's nightlife precinct, I can assure you the area is generally very...

Stayed here recently and together with Its location on Fitzroy, Cleanliness off the rooms and the Breakfast, it gets a rare 5 stars from me. Add to the fact if you choose not to have your room cleaned on day, they give you a $10 credit in the bar which is useful if you're hardly in the room! Even if...

My partner and I stayed at Rydges for 5 nights in February 2017. We chose the hotel mainly for it's location in St. Kilda (close to beach) yet with great links to Melbourne city centre. The facilities at the hotel are limited but that wasn't a problem, there is a small bar, a cafe which serves great breakfasts which we...
