Having stayed in a bunch of standard motels the previous nights, Shamrock was a welcome change with a bit more interest. Nice rooms, central location and good service. Interesting reading about the hotel's history in the room. Princess Diana and Charles also visited in 1983! Nice that breakfast runs till 11 unlike most places!

Ate here twice whilst visiting Bendigo for a friends wedding. Both times we had booked for 20 something people so they knew we were coming. The first time we visited was for an evening meal. The staff weren't particularly friendly, I would say more rude than anything, and rushed us to order our food. The food when it arrived was... More

The Shamrock is a tired old hotel and in spite of its apparent grandeur is a disappointment and particularly as it is not cheap, not worth the money. We stayed in a suite which had no wifi, with staff unable to help with this. To make a cup of tea we had to put the jug on the floor (beside... More

We never heard about this hotel before, although this facility has quite an history since the 1850's. It is still keeping a Victorian style (renovated and reopened in 1981), showing a bit its age, however not to the extent of giving it up. We reached town early in the evening, it got dark since it was cloudy and then a... More

Over the last 6 years i have never wavered from giving the Shamrock the full 5 five stars. Today we went for lunch and the Barman was friendly and efficient and the waitress who brought our Beef Olive Casserole was smiley and pleasant. The quantity of Casserole was fine and the Veggies fine bit the meal was BLAND with a... More

The Shamrock is a good base to explore Bendigo, the rooms are well serviced, clean with very comfortable beds. The continental breakfast is well provisioned with a good variety. The staff were friendly and helpful. If you want a good quick meal try the sports man's bar at the hotel great value. I would definately stay here again and we... More

We had a yearly reunion at the Shamrock Hotel with 6 couples and we found the rooms quite nice but as it is in the centre of Bendigo, and it was a Saturday night, it was extremely noisy from all the "boys" showing off how loud their cars are and doing "burn-offs" at the lights!! We got very little sleep... More

We enjoyed a couple of nights at the Shamrock. The room was comfortable and well maintained. The Shamrock is in an ideal location, a short walk to the streets and some of Bendigo attractions. The menu has many options and we found our meals delicious.

Having never stayed in a 'hotel' before, we were very pleasantly surprised. We had a room on the top floor with a small balcony where we could over look the city/park. The hotel is right in the middle of the city and you can walk to everything. There are three different places to eat inside, so you don't even need... More

The Shamrock is an interesting hotel with a lot of history and some ups and downs over time. Unfortunately there seems signs that it's on the way down again. There's quite obvious maintenance issues that are not being dealt with. And there are well meaning staff who seam to be missing out on training. This might seem overly negative, but... More
