On 18/1/2017 6 of us ate at the hotel Shamrock Of the 6 meals 2 were good, one was average and 3 were poor Two of the meals, pork ribs, were particularly poor being obviously defrosted resulting in the meat near the ribs being cold. The hotel replaced one of the meals with replacement ribs that were hot but full...

The signals were there, only three occupied tables on a Thursday night. I ordered a Chicken Parma with Chips and Salad. Looked ok when it arrived but then I tasted it. Schnitzel seemed oily like it was deep fried which I suspect it was even though I was told it wasn't before I ordered it. It was dry and extremely...

Slept one night at this Bendigo institution and found it comfortable enough, but the room and the building generally lacked polish and looked tired. For the price I would have expected a better offering, but the central location was excellent.

We opted for an easy pub lunch and chose The Shamrock. My husband and I had been before a few years ago when visiting Bendigo. It was New Year's Day and not much opened so choices limited Pub lunch was good. Fish and Chips eaten by two people were very tasty and fresh. Chicken Parma eaten by me and other...

I loved this hotel with its arches, stained glass and many original features. The staff was warm and welcoming, the room was large as was the bathroom and the bed was comfortable. The room came with all the amenities of free wifi, coffee, tea, shampoos, and a small refrigerator. There are a couple of bars and restaurants and even a...

This is a great example of the opulent excesses of the goldrush era. The building is a charming architectural layer cake where too much bling was obviously not enough. It's an absolute must for the curious Bendigo visitor, even if you just prowl around the corridors and have a drink on the first floor veranda. A1!

Went for a quick lunch with a friend. Sat in the sports bar and got a Parma for $12 which is a great price. The Parma was quite average but for $12 you can't expect much. The place offers a lot more also pokies and a great beer garden especially in this great weather not to mention another bar downstairs...

We stayed at the Hotel Shamrock whilst attending a wedding over the NY period. What a grand hotel that carries her age well. It is a lovely reminder of where we have come from, and to be honest the history associated with this hotel is a large part of her charm. The rooms and suites are well appointed, we a...

The café, which sits on the corner of Williamson St, opposite the park, was a welcome relief to 34° heat. The menu has a varied offering of meals, but there seemed to be very little that provided temptation considering the season. I ordered snapper, salad and chips. This took about 30 minutes to arrive, despite the café not being particularly...
