The beer selection and trivia is the only good thing about this place. Came in with friends and decided to have dinner before a fun night of triva. Only to be insulted and disrespected by staff. Paid $60 for two dried out, barely eatable pork bellys. Not worth $30. I was happy to sort this out, till a staff member... More

This is a welcoming pub with a great beer selection and knowledgeable staff. Had few good local breweries on tap including some limited edition brews. Food menu is also good with some well-executed staples, but also interesting items such as Szechuan pork belly. It is a short distance away from the CBD, but certainly worth the walk or short drive

We had a meal and a few beers with friends here recently. While the meal was very good, the reason we came here was for the beer. They have a pretty good selection of craft beers on tap, which made the visit worth while. A word of warning though, it is a bit of a hipster hangout. Doesn't worry me,... More

We have been eating out at the Mallow Hotel for many years now,but last night was one of the best meals we have had there. We were a party of four; two couples. We all chose different meals, but all agreed on the quality and presentation. The Mallow has the best pub meals in Ballarat. The wine list is reasonable,... More

Picked this pub by the look on my map on phone, what a great choice. The bistro was fully booked but the staff guided us towards the bar and said the meals are exactly the same and they where more happy to serve us there. Meals were spectacular and l am not kidding, wow blew us away. Got the chance... More

Was able to book a table here for NYE on reasonably short notice. Excellent range of beers and ciders. A nice menu, including a range of specials. Hubby and I both had pork belly for the entrée, which was so delicious and perfectly cooked. Then for main, both had the wagyu rump. Again, cooked really well and the sauces were... More

Finally visited this establishment on the 24th December, 2015 and it was well worth it. It has the usual pub fare but it has a more adventurous side to their menu. They also know how to cook a rare steak. The one thing I was disappointed about was I tried to order a chef's selection of the entree's and the... More

Booked here for eight family members for a birthday dinner on a Saturday evening, were told to be on time because there was another later sitting, fair enough. arrived on the dot of 6.30 as booked, were shown our table and offered water, specials were explained before the full party arrived, Hmmm? Drinks were ordered from the bar, House Red... More

Have only recently visited the Mallow this year. Being a local I feel that it was the biggest mistake ever not visiting earlier than I did. Quite simply my favourite place to go in Ballarat. I could have just a glass of water there and be quite content and happy. The pork, whether it be the Asian BBQ pork or... More

We had a great meal at the Mallow one Saturday evening recently. The large restaurant style room was busy but service was timely and attentive with two waiters working and 30 people there. I had poached duck with crispy skin in a mushroom jus with Asian flavours certainly an excellent meal. The other meals were all first class, desserts of... More
