Comfortable beds in great position in town. Rooms were spacious and had lots of character. Did not eat at restaurant, lots of local options in close proximity. Lovely heritage street- would stay here again

We stayed here to experience the character of old Ballarat but found no character only old! No bedside clock, only one bedside lamp and a double bed of strange design. Every time I walked around the bed I knocked my knee painfully on the wooden exposed corner of the bed. Bathroom had a peculiar wooden shelf extending along the bathroom...

We stayed at the Ansonia with another couple on a recent trip to Ballarat and had a very pleasant stay. Bryn, greeted us warmly at reception and gave us helpful advice where to eat in Ballarat. The two rooms were well appointed, quality bedlinen and towels, but the highlight was the atrium and garden room where we could relax and...

We stayed here a couple of times 20 years ago and had warm memories so revisited this week. Nothing has changed, even the same prints over the beds! The beds themselves were very comfortable with good linen and the hotel is in a lovely converted building. However, we were opposite the guest lounge where a very noisy group played board...

Man on reception was very helpful regarding parking and our first floor room was very clean and nicely but plainly decorated. Kind of a strange old gold rush era building but nice enough. We were in town for the Archibald Exhibition just a short walk away. Plenty of restaurants to choose from also within walking distance. Other attractions a short...

I just happened to call this property for a reservation. I greeted the lady asking how she is, and she wasn't bothered to ask back! That's alright. When I was explaining her my requirement, she just hung up saying "hey don't sell me anything" Stay away from this property, which doesn't understand basic hospitality. Disgusting!

We stayed overnight for THE ARCHIBALD art exhibition. The hotel is central in the town and the room was good .we booked the room through Bookings. com for $145 but when we checked in the manager tried to charge us $160 so beware. Also there was used coffee cup and papers on the table in the conservatory area when we...

Upon arrival at reception for a two day stay, we had the misfortune to be met with what I can only suggest was a disgruntled staff member on reception. After asking in regard to local parking, he became irate and abusive, told us to go somewhere else, which we did, including following us out into the street still yelling at...

The Ansonia is a lovely Hotel built in 1860's The decor is modern but in keeping with the style. Rooms a very clean and spacious. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially Dennis. My only complaint that stopped me from giving 5 stars is that for me the bed and pillows were too hard. There is only paid parking...
