The stay was comfortable and we were upgraded to a bigger room which was great. Hotel is very old but pretty clean. Location is great. The bed was comfortable. If you are looking for a place that is good value in a very good location this place will suit

Budget accommodation (compared to other hotels in Ballarat anyway) Rooms older but clean Next to train station (stayed on a public holiday so not many trains which was a blessing) Location ok - easy walking distance to the main st, movies and pubs A couple of steps up to bathroom so be wary if elderly Discuss car parking before you... My 3 night stay was great for the price..bear in mind this is real budget accomadation...so yes..it was a bit noisy and I had an issue with a doona cover that was NOT clean...but the sheets underneath were snowy white..the heating was more than adequate and I was there on a cold June week and the addition of tea ..coffee... Step back in time for atmosphere but enjoy the modern comforts. My bathroom had beautiful stained glass windows. The maze of corridors, reveal old world surprises with each turn. Look up for hand painted mural ceiling in the main foyer. Quiet and cozy you will really enjoy staying, try to make time to see the museum in the basement.

Loved all the period features and the written history of Reid's Coffee Palace! Clean with good quality linens and reasonable toiletries. The evening eerie tours visit -- hearing the tour guide was an unexpected thrill. Location is steps from the train station in one direction and under 10 minutes walk from the highlights of Heritage Weekend in the other direction.... More

We loved climbing the period staircase to our spacious room with superbly comfortable sofas and bed, and generous supplies! Central location meant we could walk everywhere, reception was friendly and helpful, and off street parking provided.

First, the staff were very pleasant and helpful; the bedding was clean (sheets and S Ipillows) and the proximitity of the hotel to the town was good. From there on, nothing positive. The hotel is adjacent to the railway/bus station and the entrance is between an op shop and Indian restaurant. On street parking is ticketed and 2 hour max... More

To be honest this place was pretty rad. I loved the quirky historic nature of the building, with its creaky stairs and low ceilings. If you're looking for something that's just amazing, maybe not the place. It's a budget place, but the bed was comfy and the water hot. The shower did need a better clean and the place was... More

This was exactly what we paid for, and exactly what we wanted. The price was very low and the building was gorgeous. Absolutely no frills (although we did shell out for a room with an ensuite bathroom), so don't go in expecting the Ritz, but the character of this old building is spectacular. An excellent introduction (right next to the... More
