#6 of 28 Specialty lodging in Ballarat
Following a major redevelopment, and reopening in March 2013, Kryal Castle is Australia's only medieval adventure park, and recreates a legendary land of myths and medieval adventure with knights, dragons, wizards, kings, queens, princesses and fairies. Within the Castle walls is a medieval town of activities, where visitors feel as if they have entered a unique and magical place! Witness daring jousting contests, venture down into the creepy Torture Dungeon or wander through the grounds and gardens exploring the Knight's Round Table Tower, the Maze, Dragon's Labyrinth, Village Traders, Bravehearts Playground, Wizards Workroom, Jesters Theatre and so much more. Buy sweets from the Tooth Fairy Lolly Shop, and if you can't resist the lure of this fascinating period try on an outfit at the King's Britches Costume Emporium and take a picture of your medieval self. To extend the adventure, visitors can continue with a night in one of the Castle's 17 luxury suites, which beautifully capture the glory and mystery of times past, with stunning hand woven European tapestries, yet are as modern and as well equipped as any lord or lady would want. Perfect for romantic getaways or fun family adventures staying in the heart of the action!

Fun place to visit. Probably more for kids but I'm an adult and I didn't not like it! The joust is probably the best part of the day for entertainment but it's all about the queen.. she's very funny and always in character! We stayed the night and bed was super comfy, I like a

The room was very comfortable, with good amenities, furnishings, consumables. However it is a fair distance from Ballarat or even the nearest take away or pub. Guest parking is at the back of the resort with a separate, secure entrance. Signage to this car park is virtually

Hi Barrie, Thanks for your review. We are glad you found the room comfortable, however I do take issue with a few of your comments. Firstly, we are only a 10-minute drive from the centre of Ballarat, where there are many cafes and restaurants and the nearest take away place is actually only a 2-minute drive from the castle. There is also the delivery option mentioned on check in, who deliver direct to the suites. Our suites car park is at the back of the castle and we do provide a detailed map of how to get there from the front car park. There are also 2 signs labelled "Suites Parking" on the roads leading around to the car park, one on each corner. We do apologise that the room you were given was one of the furthest away from the car park, however there was no mention of mobility issues at the time of booking, or even upon check in, so there was no way we could've known this information. If you had let us know, we absolutely would have moved you to a room closer to the entrance and offered help with luggage. Unfortunately, as we only have one person in the office at any given time, we are unable to offer every guest help with their luggage. I am also a bit confused about your comment about having to call the "caretaker's" mobile to get your keys, as you came straight to the suites office at the front of the castle where the doors were open and we were expecting you, no phone call necessary. It is correct that after 5pm, you do need to call the after hours mobile number if you require anything as our office closes at 5, however this is a direct line to us (the accommodation managers), as we live onsite, not a caretaker. It is disappointing to read that you thought there was zero customer service, as we do pride ourselves on our friendly and approachable customer service and we did even offer to open up some of our shops for you, which are usually closed midweek. Hopefully you can come and stay with us again and if you require help with your luggage, or anything at all, all you need to do is ask. Kind Regards, Suites Management

Our stay was only 1 night, & we were booked into the Commanders Quarters, ours was a double bed but also had rooms with bunk beds. The room was a bit small but was clean, the bathroom was a good size. What we did like was the size of the bath towels actually bath sheets.

Hi Christine, Thanks so much for your lovely review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and found the room comfortable. We agree about the bath sheets - a small touch, but who doesn't love an extra large towel after a nice shower? We hope to welcome you back to Kryal Castle again soon!

Great experience for a family getaway. The place was clean and the bed was comfortable with a spa bath, breakfast and castle park entry included in the cost. My children were 11 and 13 and thoroughly enjoyed themselves with free run of the castle after dark, I only wished I

Could not have been more impressed. We stayed mid week. So did not get free park entry as park is only opened at certain times and was still very pleased with our stay. So unique and the room was well worth the cost. We tried booking again on our way back from melbourne as we
