I know that's a big call, but we have just spent 5 nights in Tassie and our mission was to try seafood chowder everywhere we went and The Star had the most delicious chowder ever, it was light, fresh & full of flavour. Well done chef! We also dined at a fine dining restaurant in Hobart apparently renowned for its... More

The Star bar in a poplar meet and greet place. Good food at a reasonable Price. Not just a pub meal but you would think you were at a good Resturaunt. Right in the heart of the city and lots of shopping around if you want a good lunch.

It was a cold winters day in Launceston and we were hungry looking for somewhere to eat and get out of the cold. I was aware of the Star Bar and had been there before so I headed on over. I ordered a pint of Asahi Black which was on tap and is a great dark beer for the winter... More

My partner and I had lunch here. The charcuterie board was very tasty with a nice selection of treats. The fish and chips were good also. It was summer and warm in Launceston, so a good choice for lunch.

This is a lovely trendy little bar/restaurant which also has rooms. Because of the age of the hotel the rooms are not large but quite enough. The hotel has no parking but street parking is available and there is a Public car park around the back.

I thought I might try this place whilst travelling in Launceston, I was sat down promptly & they took my drink & food order in good time. There was about 20 or so people on this Monday night, I ordered a pizza, this pizza must have come all the way from Italy, it was the longest wait ever, more than... More

Not what was promised on the booking page! No air conditioning (just a fan without a power point nearby), no view at all (from my room I could see a wall and a staircase), no hair dryer, no soundproofing (even before the live music started it was quite noisy), no alarm clock, TV was ridiculously small and the channels didn't... This hotel offers good location. We found the room a bit small and the bathroom too congested, hardly enough space for a comfortable shower. Water pressure was a problem when we stayed there for two days. A little noisy at night as the bar is just downstairs. For budget travelers, food and music just a floor below may sound unbeatable.

We needed an easy feed and a couple of beers and star bar fitted the bill with a good pizza and some salt and pepper calamari on the side. Both cooked to perfection. Service was attentive and courtious. One thing that detracted from the experience was that due to the front of the bar being very open to the footpath... More

Have stayed here before, the location is the best thing about this place its central to everything . The down side is they charge premium prices for accommodation but the rooms are not up to speed. This time you couldn't check in till 5 pm as someone forgot to turn up to clean rooms, one room had noises from industrial... More
