Called the hotel to double check motel pet friendly. The manager confirmed it was and there was a room available. Could have booked it online but he said cheaper direct. Asked for a credit card but as we were driving he said he would see us in 45 minutes as we were in Taree. Upon arrival he bluntly said he had sold our room. Late in the day that was not what we wanted to hear, we had to start the search for dog friendly accom in the middle of school holidays. We were lucky and we did find a place way better ata fraction of the price he quoted (plus dog charge). Now we read reviews we consider ourselves lucky not to have given this unprofessional person any business. We second the Narimba motel and Tourist Park for dog friendly accommodation.

I booked 2 nights and arrived with my pup at 12 midday to ask reception if a room might be available earlier than 2pm check in time. I was told there is a room available at a cost of $65 total extra for a deluxe spa. I went to have a look at the room after James (owner/manager) gave me the key. Everything was fine up until this point, The room was okay for a budget motel, so I went back to reception and advised I’d like to go ahead and check in. James then said he noticed I have a dog to which I replied yes, I entered that into the booking notes. He said well in that case it will be an extra $25 per night, then decided to change the plus $65 TOTAL to PER NIGHT. This didn’t add up and I questioned why it had changed. When I started questioning why the extra amount per night had doubled - James became very rude and said “if you’re going to come here with that attitude, I probably don’t want you to stay at the property, maybe I’ll just cancel the whole booking” to which I politely replied that I didn’t want the booking cancelled, rather trying to discuss the price breakdown. The situation quickly escalated, due to his rudeness. I asked if there was anyone else I could speak to as I found James manner completely abhorrent (I could hear a ladies voice behind closed door). After laughing in my face, James told me I should find somewhere else to stay as he was going to cancel my booking on me. I was shocked. I said “I have never dealt with someone in customer service who is so....” he laughed as I paused and said “go on, give me your best adjective”. My mouth was on the floor. I requested he not cancel the booking as the only other pet friendly motel was fully booked. His manner was disgusting, and at this point, he said it was too bad, and walked out the back office to hide while I stood in reception trying to continue the conversation with him. Feeling helpless and desperate at this point, I walked out to my car to consider what to do, walked back in and pressed the buzzer, he came out from hiding in the back office. I said that I need to stay the night with my pet, I requested he please re-book the room to which he said “no, if you don’t leave the property in the next 5 minutes I am calling the police”. When the police arrived, I approached them to see if they might be able to mediate the situation and help me find the accommodation that I so needed for the night. They told me they had been called to the Koala Tree Motel multiple times, and that I did NOT want to stay there, and that I was lucky not to have checked in or given him any money. I had read some poor reviews about the manager/owner and the hotel but I booked against my better judgement as it was the only available pet friendly accommodation for the dates I needed to travel. James is an absolute sexist pig, he treated me like I was a threatening and abusive, he is a power tripping egomaniac who hides behind his desk like a coward. Complete whimp. I wish my partner had been with me, who would have given him the swift upper cut he deserves. And I don’t condone violence. I will never ever book there again. And I recommend anyone looking for a pet friendly motel - to stay at Narimba Lodge. Lisa and Wayne are angels and gave me a room at their own families inconvenience after I called them in tears looking for an alternative all thanks to James Danton’s disgraceful treatment of me and my dog. I have no idea how this guy is still ‘running a business’ he is a disgraceful excuse for a human being. James has a reputation in Port Macquarie. Be warned.

Disgraceful, have stayed here many times before, made a 2 night booking only for the (manager lol) James to tell us on arrival too bad, I didn't make the booking . I asked why not, was told mistakes happen, asked for help finding other hotels, didn't want to do that, asked for my wife to use the bathroom as she is pregnant and just driven from Sydney, response was u can head to maccas, I asked if ur could make an exception was told too bad not my kid and my wife shouldn't get hysterical. Nothing short of disgraceful a person, and use the word person lightly works in a service industry. James then advised he was calling the police as we were trespassing while hiding in the office

Arrived to find no one there, rang the 2 numbers there, landline disconnected, mobile number.... No answer.... eventually the manager arrived ....he didn't know I had a booking (body language) I mentioned I rung the mobile number on the door .... he said he didn't take his phone.... he asked if I was paying today.... I said no! It's already done through my booking...... told me not to get defensive.... handed over the keys to our room ..... pocky small room for a family of 4, directly under the reception office(They've utilised the basement space!!!), the small unit stunk of a vanilla musty smell as soon as we walked in... flying bugs in the room and more so the bathroom (had to go buy bug spray)... aircon directly under the queen bed.... We had to move the bed around to get it away from the aircon ..... had to ask for more plates and cups e.t.c .... (2 of everything) manager wasn't happy.... will be keeping a close on bank statements to see if I will be charged extra for these ....we found the vanilla musty smell! An old scent jar in the bathroom with dead bugs! Small flies were coming through the extractor fan in the bathroom.... baby cockroaches walking around through the unit .... will never stay again

Be kind to yourself, you are worth more! The room smelt disgusting when I booked in, a can of Glen20 and Flyspray used in the 2 weeks for all types of cochroaches and odours. Exhaust fan and filter in air con putrid, cleaned upon request. Aired room for 4 hours. Dogs yapping in other rooms, but wait for the best part: a prostitute booked in for a week right next to me, with men coming and going every half hour, the worst part was the constant showering of the clients and sex worker because the walls were so thin you could hear the pipes banging for every single shower day and night. No milk, no ironing board or iron, no china or cutlery. Do yourself a favour and go across the road to Port Macquarie Motel: they are cheaper, cleaner and the Manager/Owner is helpful and will not have sex workers in her rooms.
