The staff are very nice. We stayed in the units out the back. We could hear the people in the next unit going to the bathroom. The room was freezing. During the night it was very noisy, we had people banging on the front and back door. It did have a lovely view of the river and is in a... More

We were only in Grafton for one night and wanted an 'iconic heritage pub' . This certainly fitted the bill. Great position on the Clarence River. The hotel unfortunately full but our motel room- small but clean was fine. Happy hour in front of the log fire and dinner in the restaurant-Mexican night - was a pleasant way to break... More

We liked the setting. Big pub, overlooking the Clarence River, so we checked it out and booked a Motel room. After checking in and settling in to the room, which was small, but it suited the purpose as we were only there to sleep in it. It was the right price, clean and had tea, coffee and milk. We wandered... More

We just went to Grafton for the day and actually couldn't find our way to another restaurant and ended up at the Grafton Hotel. I was very glad we did. We had beautiful air-conditioning on a hot day and a fabulous view of the river. We could have sat on the balcony but the air-conditioning and view inside was still... More

The Crown is a historical hotel dating back before my grandparents were living in Grafton. Stay upstairs in the hotel and in an ensuite room. Forget about the motel rooms as in the hotel you can get a historic room opening onto a great balcony overlooking the river. For under $100 it was good clean but yes dated room. The... More

We didn't stay at the Crown, but we went there for a meal and drinks while we're in town. Wonderful meals, great hosts, excellent service and tremendous atmosphere. They appear to have "theme" meal nights, but also have a conventional menu. Great views from the patio dining room overlooking the river. The hotel is at the southern end of the... More

Stayed one night, average Spartan rooms given the price paid, glasses were dirty and jug did not work nor did box type aircon. Male manager at reception was rude and unprofessional when we raised our concerns regarding the non working air-conditioning unit given it was summer was not a whim on our part. Basically he couldn't have cared less. like... More

Why stay by the highway when you can stay by the river? We were very pleased by this motel for the price. Sure it's no taj mahal, but the rooms were clean. Get the rooms with a view of the river on the detached motel section.

I stayed one night in an upstairs room with shared bathroom facility. I guess at $40 per night I was prepared for some compromise. However the single bed room probably had a makeover 50 years ago, the bathroom facilities were even older and simply put : disgusting. No tea or coffee facilities, even in the common kitchen. No lounge area.... More

Great old pub that must be able to tell some amazing stories. Sometimes it is not about standards, sometimes it is about being in something historic and thinking about whats gone before. Service was good and the food tasty, and the location is pretty special too.
