We had an amazing night with Poppy and Jack. This is not a luxury hotel but a B&b with style, Poppy welcomed us with a warm welcome. We opted for the home cooked meal which was fabulous. If you want something a little different this is for you. We had a great time as we travelled around Australia.

Poppy's Cottage is a quaint farmstay cottage that made our time away just wonderful. Being part of a working farm with great views was a great break away from where we live; and extra great to come back to after uni all day. Poppy and Jake were very welcoming and generous, which completed the country B&B experience. Poppy's gave us...

Thank you, Poppy and Jake, for your warm and inclusive hospitality. Our Sister's Weekend stay was the perfect, restorative break - superb, gourmet meals, delightful setting, peace, tranquillity and soothing surrounds. Your presentation of the old miner's cottage was attractively done, ultra comfortable, and welcoming. As will your other guests have wished for, we would have loved a longer stay;...

Poppy and Jake were lovely hosts. It was a quiet and peaceful location, yet only 10 minutes drive into the town centre. Gorgeous gardens and delightful breakfasts. We enjoy our stay and it is very close to Peterson's Winery for Day on the Green.

A stay at Poppy's Cottage is really like a step back in time but with modern conveniences. The beautiful country garden, complete with roaming ducks and two friendly dogs and a cat gives a very serene feel to your stay and breakfast is served under the trees when it is a warm morning. The renovated miner's cottage is spotlessly clean...

What a treasure this place is! Poppy and Jake were the best hosts and the little cottage is an ideal retreat from the world. It was spotless and well equipped. Maintenance is obviously kept up to date - I couldn't fault it. The bed was more than comfortable - evidenced by the fact that we were woken by a knock...

If you are travelling between Brisbane and Sydney and you wish to split the thousand kilometre drive then I recommend a stop over at Poppy's. This delightful B&B is located just outside Amidale and is located on a working property owned by Poppy and Jake. The delightful cottage is an old relocated railway workers cottage (built somewhere about 1910) that...

An idyllic cottage in a beautiful and tranquil setting, with fantastic service and very friendly hosts. A substantial home cooked breakfast and adorable pet dog completed the experience. Thank you both for a very pleasant and enjoyable stay.

I have recently returned from my annual stay in Armidale for business and personal reasons. I prefer to stay at Poppy's Cottage because of the very welcoming atmosphere. Both Poppy, Emma and Miffy as well as the Cottage embrace one with warmth and ambience. Following a 1000km drive this is always very much appreciated. The Cottage with the views on...

We really enjoyed our stay at Poppy's. Its clean, cosy, comfortable and charming. The hosts Poppy and Jack were very welcoming and helpful. Poppy provides a wonderful breakfast, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal, bacon, eggs and toast. It's a lovely place for a short stay and I look forward to the next time we can stop in there on our travels....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Award winning Armidale Poppy's Cottage, set on 140 acres, is only 10 minutes from the heart of historic Armidale. As expressed by guests, "BEST BREAKFAST EVER" INCLUDED in the TARIFF. Enjoy cosy and warm accommodation in the "Settlers' Cottage" adjoining 1901 homestead. The Cottage is set in about 2 acres of established, leafy, English style garden, interspersed with old-fashioned roses, perennials, herbs, fruit trees and vegetables. With 2 bedrooms and ensuite, the cottage is totally private. Guests have the option of a delicious three-course dinner by candlelight, with complimentary bottle of local wine from the vineyard nearby. You will find chocolates and port in the cottage as an after dinner treat. Wonderful breakfasts include a large selection of fresh and poached fruits, yoghurt, freshly squeezed orange juice as well as a full cooked breakfast. The bread is homemade and jams are made from the fruit trees in the garden. This breakfast may be served during the warmer weather in the garden under the canopy of the fruit trees to the music of birdcall. Children may enjoy feeding the pet animals and collecting eggs from the hens. The new miniature horse, Coki, has formed a good friendship with Sassy, the adorable Border Collie dog. Poppy's Cottage is the ideal base to experience Armidale's culture and tourist attractions. Further along the road, visit world class National Park and spectacular waterfalls. (The walks in the park are stunning). A hike to the top of the extinct volcanic plug will be a marvellous experience to those who are eager to see kangaroos and wallabies. Enjoy tasting wines from the adjacent winery or sampling a delicious lunch in the gardens of the vineyard homestead during the weekend. Safe undercover parking for your vehicle if you should require. Your hosts, who have offered bed and breakfast accommodation for over 26 years to many returning guests, will look forward to making you welcome. ... more   less
