Wow, this is a beautiful place to stay.
Built in the late 1800s, it has been lovingly restored and furnished.
Our large room opened onto a broad central hallway, with beautiful stained glass at either end, and an eclectic display of art collected by the owner. At the back of the house you move seamlessly from 1890 into 2022, with a large and fantastically equipped designer kitchen opening onto a large conservatory overlooking the garden.
Although our stay was in the middle of winter the house was warm, with several heat pumps and a fireplace, plus underfloor heating in the ensuite.
Our bedroom was very comfortable, and although the ensuite was compact, it had a generously proportioned shower.
The house is a short walk from the centre of town, and is in a very quiet location.
We will definitely be staying here again!

The b&b was fantastic. Large comfortable rooms, the whole house is beautifully decorated with eclectic furnishings and art works. The host was friendly and helpful. You are made to feel at home and given wine and breakfast offerings. Loved it.

A wonderfully restored home, full of charming personal touches. The bedrooms and lounge are so lovely and interesting, I could spend days in each room just looking at all the features. The kitchen and dining area are modern and very light with a heat pump and a lovely fireplace, opening up to a deck and the garden. Ensuites in all bedrooms.
Can't wait to go back.

The house and especially the gardens are lovely. We stayed in the Red Room, which has a nice bathroom and the largest bathroom in the house. The room is very dark and although we understand that soft lighting is in line with the decor of the house, several of the side lamps were not functional and it was difficult and somewhat dangerous to move around in the darkness. The biggest dissapointment was the breakfast. We had read about the fresh fruit, eggs and croissants for breakfast but what Jackie made available to us was an assortment of bread loaf ends that had been stored in the freezer for us to toast along with a fruit salad comprised of mainly overly sweet canned fruit and this was in the middle of summer where fresh fruit is abundant in the markets! Westport has amazing bakeries and fresh bread and/or pastries rather than old frozen bread ends would have made a huge differnce in our overall experience. Bathroom linens were sparse and since the hosts don't live at the house, there was no opportunity to request an additional bath towel or wash cloth.

We stayed at Archer House for one night on 18 March 2019. What a beautifully restored home. It was such a pleasure to stay here and admire all the beautiful artwork and ceramics. The modern kitchen was gorgeous and brought in such wonderful light to the area. A big thank-you to Charles & Jackie for being such wonderful hosts. We had such a lot in common and I am sure one day will meet again. On our arrival we had a welcomed glass of wine and that was very much appreciated. We would have loved to have stayed longer but Westport was at the end of our trip. It was such a pleasure to stay in such a gorgeous home - a real delight. The breakfast was great - fresh croissants, muesli and fruit - thanks. If in Westport stay here you won't be disappointed.

We stumbled upon this gem and could not have been luckier. The house is a perfect combination of antique and modern, comfortable and exotic--absolutely beautiful. Jackie and Charles completely surpassed all our expectations and were perfect hosts. We really enjoyed visiting with them over our breakfast, which included delicious fresh-baked muffins. And to top it off, it was a great value. Unforgettable.

Archer House is outstanding. A beautifully restored house with a regal feel. You must do it justice, both to the area and the accommodations by staying a good 3 days as a base for all the great hiking nearby. Add to that the original artwork, and the fabulous hosts Charles and Jackie. We had the house practically all to ourselves. The lounge-kitchen-dining room is open plan, spacious and extremely comfortable. We fixed ourselves a couple of light suppers, and Charles and Jackie go out of their way to prepare you a wonderful breakfast each morning. Charles & Jackie will help you pointing out all the wonderful attractions in the area, they are long time residents of Westport, world travelers and photographers, for sure you get the royal treatment.

If you would like to try something different this is a great experience. Staying in a fabulous old cat 1 listed building. the stained glass is the most amazing I have ever seen. The only things not old are the ensuites which are new and up to date. The hosts are very attentive and happy to help in any way and the breakfast is lovely with home made preserves.
