We arrived here after a high adrenaline week in Queenstown and initially wondered what there was to do around Te Anau. After a week of heli-hiking (the chopper lands in the front garden!), quad biking and taking in the amazing scenery from here to Milford Sound we were really impressed. The lodge is located about 10 minutes drive from Te... More

We totally enjoyed our stay at the beautiful Dock Bay Lodge. Our host Dawn was most helpful with information on the area and restaurant reservations. Our rooms were spacious and very comfortable. Located a short drive from the tourist town center, the modern lodge sits atop a hill overlooking the lake - the views are spectacular. And if you are... More

Superlative is the word I'd use for the way Dawn keeps home and treats guests. We stayed for two nights and wished we had stayed longer. Wonderful, large rooms, fabulous views of the grounds and lake and superb breakfast. The only reason I haven't given a 5 star rating is that there is no laundry facility. This is something that... It was lovely to meet you both and I feel priviledged to be invited to follow your travels through the States on Facebook, you are having a wonderful holiday. I am surprised re your remark about the laundry as I am always doing laundry for my guests so not sure where the break down in communication was there and sincerely... More

Another great B&B with fantastic views over the lakes. Dawn cooks a mean breakfast and the room was great. We had to cancel our planned jet boat ride due to the thunderstorm, Dawn was extremely helpful with ideas as we replanned the day, tricky given roads were closed and the weather was uncertain.

Well you certainly did end up in the biggest storm we have had in a very long time. I was very pleased that it didn't dampen you enthusiasm to see as much of Fiordland as possible and that you still enjoyed your stay. More

We spent three nights here. Our room and bathroom were spacious, comfortable and very clean. They had thought of and supplied everything a weary traveler would need.Dawn and Mark were simply charming and so helpful. They have standing reservations at two very good restaurants in town which made a huge difference knowing that you didn't have to book yourself. Breakfasts... More

Thank you for your kind words and we would love you to come back and stay again. Top notch experience. The property is immaculate, with a view to match. Impeccably maintained lawn and gardens, though the whole peppery still feels casual and unfussy. Dawn is attentive and knowledgable, and happy to help with making bookings for meals, activities, etc. our room was well appointed - large, newly renovated bath (with good shower pressure!), nice toiletries, and, perhaps... Thank you, I really appreciate that you have taken the time to share your thoughts on trip advisor. Yes Colin does love to play and often seems quite depressed once my guests check out but quickly manages to convince the next guests that they should play with him. This year has been incredibly busy but we have met some amazing... More

On arrival we were shown into the main room with floor-to-ceiling windows. The view was stunning. Beautiful gardens, the blue Lake Anau, the mountains surrounding the lake and the snow-capped even larger mountains in the distance. It is a very special place surrounded by peace and quiet. All the rooms have this same wonderful view. The lodge is beautifully appointed,... More

Thank you for your review. It is incredible how many people wish they could stay for longer in Fiordland once they realise how much there is to do. Each year there seems to be new operators with fantastic new ideas of places to visit and things to do especially for the outdoor adventurers. We would love to see you again... More

The ultimate B & B with stunning views and the most helpful of hosts. Dawn is a treasure for anyone visiting for the first time arranging excursions and giving advice on restaurants. Thank you for your review and for emphasising how much easier it is to get to Milford and Doubtful Sound from Te Anau than Queenstown. I often feel so sorry for the tourists who have been sold these trips as the long journey will often be the thing they remember the most. More
